2 Types of Organizations Ascending Fastest to the Cloud
There are 2 types of Organizations Going Cloud that are contributing most strongly to cloud computing's growth:
1. Early Adopters. These orgs have embraced cloud computing and value convenience, performance, top-notch support & cutting-edge solutions. They believe IT leadership is a key contributor to their company's success and are most often smaller, tech-focused, innovative & fast-growing.
2. Security-focused. These orgs care about security because they have valuable IP, handle sensitive data, or need to comply with their industry's regulations. They have historically used private clouds, but are now shifting to AWS, GCP & Azure as those platforms invest in regulatory compliance (HIPAA, GDPR, etc.)
The remaining types are orgs that:
- have complex IT environments requiring a mix of public, private & on-prem infrastructure
- want to reduce the cost or TCO of their infrastructure
- have considerable inertia, but adopt where it's economically or practically compelling in the short-term
The first two represent the fastest-growing segments, but the last three comprise the majority of the addressable market. In particular, inert organizations take a long time to significantly shift, but when they do so - even in small chunks - it's often an enterprise project and meaningful to the org & vendors in size and scope.
