2 Things You Must Know About School Security
With the dialog about active-shooter incidents in school systems at an all time high, there are a few steps you must complete prior to making security purchases. These steps involve your insurance company. It is critical to forward potential security upgrades to your insurance carrier for review, PRIOR TO PURCHASE.
The primary reason to give your insurance carrier advance notice of your plans and purchases is to avoid making a large investment only to find out after, your provider recommends against the product or service. If a provider recommends against the security measure or discovers it in an onsite review, it could cause issues with your investment after the fact. There have been school systems who have spent thousands of dollars on security, only to have the product sitting in storage.
The second reason you want to your insurance carrier involved is to protect your insurability. Being dropped from insurance, having difficulty obtaining a new carrier or potentially having your insurance costs change over a large security purchase is another pitfall to avoid and headache you don’t need.
We recommend sending security services or product information to your insurance provider prior to making a decision to avoid a large investment that causes unforeseen challenges.
