2 Things We Can't Live Without
"Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see." -Mark Twain
Kindness and grace are two things that improve our lives and the lives of everyone we communicate with. These are the areas that all of us can be great in with the implementation of some awareness (emotional intelligence). When we are aware of our behavior, we are in greater control of the words we say and our behavior/actions.
Be kind/Nice: It takes the same amount of time and effort to be nice as it does to be mean, short or rude. Give everyone the benefit of the doubt. If those I communicate with are mean or rude, I do my best to combat that with being as nice as I can. I tell myself that their anger isn’t directed at me and they probably really need someone to be nice to them. If we make a conscience decision to be kind/nice all of time it increases our likeability and our trustworthiness. People prefer to be around kind/nice people.
"Constant kindness can accomplish much. As the sun makes ice melt, kindness causes misunderstanding, mistrust, and hostility to evaporate." -Albert Schweitzer
Have Grace: We never know what is going on in the lives of the people we interact with. All of us are fighting some sort of emotional, physical and/or financial battle. Having grace assumes that we give everyone the benefit of the doubt and we treat them like we are aware of their pain even though we aren’t. Imagine if everyone had a bubble above their head with their issues/problems in that bubble for us to read… We would read about pain and loss that would (hopefully) cause our grace to increase and thus lead top positive and constructive interactions with everyone.
When you realize you are Whole in One. Living a life of grace is like traveling in a balloon. You can go higher, farther, and more easily toward your goals when you release the extra ballast of your unexamined certainties, dogmas and convictions. The strangest secret: We become what we think about. ~ Earl Nightengale.

8 年Very true!
I just got done reading a great book by Greg Boyle called, Tattoos on the Heart. He brings up the idea of resilience and the lack of it within the gang communities he lived and worked in LA. I think resiliency is overlooked as a major player in the happiness and drive one has in their daily lives. It has sparked an interest in me to figure out how to raise my boys and girl to be as resilient as possible when they face adversity in their lives. I know through your story, you showed resilience in your career and personal life and are now affecting others in such a positive way. Resilience, one of the major keys to success in my book!
