2 things every business needs at every stage

2 things every business needs at every stage

You need?two things to run a business.?

One is obvious: capital (time, money, or both).

The other may not be so obvious and that’s the kinda the point: clarity.?

You might know the value of your work, get clients results, and have a reliable process, but you don’t know how to put all this into words to communicate effectively with right-fit prospects.

OR?

You might not be clear on what you’re doing (maybe it’s something new or you’re doing it in a new way), so selling feels hard when you’re not yet sold on it yourself.?

Confused people don’t buy.

Confused people can’t sell.?

Clarity comes through action and reflection.?

Writing is a massively helpful tool to reach clarity of thought which can then get translated into clarity of communication.

When you’re in business, you do lots of writing—proposals, contracts, emails, MOUs, presentations, articles, ops manuals, emails, DMs, talks, curriculum, job descriptions… I mean tons.?

Some of that writing can be basic, boring, and bad—no one but you and maybe your team sees it.?

But a big chunk of that writing has to go out in the world in the form of marketing communications.?

This is when it gets hairy for a lot of folks.

This is when writing has to transform into copy and all that nifty wordsmithing, consumer psychology, and conversion stuff comes into play.

I’ll be very frank—this is not an easy process.?

Oh? You know this already?

Even when you know this process well because you do it for others, as in you’re a copywriter or brand messaging person, it’s damn hard to do it for yourself.?

The process gets a hella lot easier when you have distance, structure, a sounding board, and accountability. (Notice that three of these four things require other people to be involved—a coach, consultant, colleague, for sure your clients/customers, and any combo of these.)

Paraphrase Communications exists to provide the distance, structure, sounding board, and accountability to help service-based businesses transform their writing into words that win them hearts, minds, and money.?

If you're looking for this kind of help, we have a number of resources ready for you to jump into.?

I recommend starting with the Client Conversion Quiz because it’s fast, free, and gives you insight into where your specific gaps are so you?can better focus your messaging and marketing efforts.

If you?want real-time support, we have options that range from short 1:1 intensives to robust private-group hybrid experiences. Check out what we offer.

I love fielding questions about writing, messaging, copy, marketing, and anything about business. If you have one, hit reply and ask. (That’s a standing invitation?for any of my posts.)

Keep writing, keep shining,

Lisa
