2 States ??

I was around 15 when I discovered 2 States. Love was a concept that I learnt from my mom. Kind, pure, full of passion and with a little melodrama. I instantly fell in love with the book. The story stole my heart and so did the characters. The idea of two different people stumbling upon each other and fighting with all their heart to make things work; being silly and supportive of each other, I was convinced it was love. I read it twice. Then came the movie. Seeing Alia Bhat fighting over that sambar, her dimples and her language - I mean who wouldn’t fall in love. People say we enjoy something more if we resonate with it and I, admired 2 states.

Imagine being with someone who matches your level of crazy and is as smart as you, or smarter. The power of someone’s smile and the calming effect of their touch. All that together for two or more years. Suddenly you go out in the real world and convince people that you love, to accept your choice. And despite all the efforts when things go south, literally in this case, it feels like your world is falling apart. You start choking and feel clueless. You write your thoughts down and try to liberate the love that you have in those pages because not everyone can understand you. That broken feeling drives you crazy.

2 States teaches us the idea of love, tells us to fight for it. Communities, Religion, Parenthood, Families, Cultures have one common language - love, one that often goes undiscovered. Even if all these forces try to go against you, you have the most powerful thing to fight with - love. Manoeuvre each force with compassion and that love of yours by holding each others hand and hoping. That trust-fall defines your strength because love is enough.

The comfort of being with that one person, the romance and the stupidity, that’s what defines the relationship. The magic of looking into their eyes and realising what a story you have and the things you have gone through together, things that you have done for each other and smiling back on all those times with happy tears and knowing it was all worth it and now you will spend all your life together. It’s a fairytale but you never know ??
