We humans have mastered the art of creating Dichotomies such as 'Happy' & 'Sad', 'Beautiful' & 'Ugly', 'Life' & 'Death', 'Appreciation' & 'Criticism' etc.
And then the dilemma is how to work on these Dichotomies that too Effectively. Many of you must be aware that there are appropriate ways to work on these. And today we will discuss about the appropriate way of working on 'Appreciation' & 'Criticism'.
And you will be amazed to read that it is really, really Simple. How? Let's see.... :)
There are 2 Proverbs that inspired the appropriateness of this Dichotomy... Want to know?.... Ok....here we go...
1) "Bhagwaan jab deta hai chappar faarh ke deta hai" (whenever God gives, HE gives in full abundance.")
This proverb was used in one of my Training Sessions with my Trainers and I asked them 3 questions and their answers were Magnificent:
a. What do they see, hear in relation to this proverb?
Ans a: "Lots of money drizzling from sky", "Happiness all around", "Wealth beyond Measure" "God appreciating our efforts" etc.
b. What are the feelings associated with this proverb?
Ans b: "Growth", "Prosperity", "Happiness", "Abundance" etc.
c. Who all do they think will be aware of the happening if the proverb really happens?
Ans c: "Lot of people", "All the public present at that moment", "Everyone" etc.
And basis this they derived it with a spark in their Eye - 'Feeling of happiness & abundance that brings in appreciation is visible to all.'
Therefore: 'Appreciation has to be done in Public - 'ALWAYS''
And with this AHA Moment they got, they also got curious to know about 2nd proverb and what Life's lesson it will bring. They were excited and I see that, so are you.... So here is the 2nd proverb:
2) "Bhagwaan ki laathi mein aawaaz nahi hoti" (There is no sound in GOD's stick)
And again asked them to answer those 3 questions from previous proverb but this time in relation to this one.
Ah! and you guessed it right, they were quick this time and with jaw dropping answers...
a. What do they see, hear in relation to this proverb?
Ans a. They saw and heard 'punishment', 'groans', 'cries', 'demotion' etc.
b. What are the feelings associated with this proverb?
Ans b. They felt 'embarrassed', 'depressed', 'sad' etc.
c. Who all do they think will be aware of the happening if the proverb really happens?
Ans c. 'no one except the person being punished" as there is no noise in the stick so no one else comes to know about it.
And as the excitement does, they quickly came with their own derivation - 'Feeling of embarrassment that brings in punishment or demotion is done in private/seclusion.
Therefore - 'Criticism has to be done in Private - 'ALWAYS''
This was a Eureka Moment for each one of us, there was a spark in every eye and we learnt a great lesson of Life.
And Trust me following these 2 rules have transformed their lives beautifully. They have earned more respect, more love from all over and most of all, NOW, they are leading a Life full of Dignity.
Try it & you will find yourself becoming Magical!!!
Happy MAGIC to All!!! :)
