2 physical concepts in Oracle database
It could be strange, but yes, there are 2 concepts that came from physic that you can apply to your oracle database.
The first one is about the concept of to influence the database while you are analyzing it to understand the performance problems [1]. And this was a very important issue in old days before 10g version. With this version, Oracle introduced the "Intelligent Infrastructure" in order to manage itself, introduced AWR, ASH, ADDM, Advisor ad other things.
The second one is about of how to "need to find a common currency between machines and not just between different areas in the same server" [2]. In Oracle 10g, Oracle introduced the DB Time metric that is the core concept of all performance analysis. "Database time is defined as the sum of the time spent inside the database processing user requests" [2]. Low values of DB Time is like to do the same thing in less time.
