Lock out the bookkeeper!? Lock out the client!?
We all know it is important to ensure clients lock their accounting records at the close of each financial reporting period, but it is too easy to let them do what they like.
"It was all wrong"
Our first OLaunch conversion went great! Until we received the dreaded call from the end client that it “was all wrong.” We quickly brought up all our verification reports, and they looked great, but what happened?
The client was adamant that it was all wrong. Xero and Odoo did not agree with each other. So we began the forensics.
First, by logging into Xero we could show in its audit logs that historical Xero transactions were changed by their brand-new external accountant.
Then we logged into Odoo and found that their external bookkeeper made different historical changes in Odoo. Nothing agreed with each other. They asked how to fix it, and we had to scratch our heads as we asked them which system had the correct numbers, they didn’t know either.?
"I don't know what the numbers should be"
Over the years we have spent hours untangling accounts that clients have changed after their accounts were finalised and lodged. Have you had the same?
