2 new clients from a LinkedIn post - A ‘Digital You’ case study

I just had a chat with Dale, who shared a pretty incredible win.
First up, Dale advises high-net-worth individuals on repatriation and retirement—think expats moving their wealth and assets back home after a stint overseas.
Dale’s no stranger to the importance of cloning himself through digital marketing, but what he told me really hammered home just how effective 'Digital Dale' can be.
“I published this LinkedIn article last week,” Dale said, “and within days, I had two new clients signed up. One of them has significant assets in a foreign super plan. The other is a senior partner in Hong Kong, earning a very high income. His family’s moving back to Australia, and we’ve got a repatriation plan set up for him.”
For Dale this represents immediate revenue in the 5 figure range and lifetime value in the 6 figures.
Let's breakdown what happened to get this result because it highlights the "Cloning Trifecta" in action.
It turns out, both of these two clients were first-degree connections from his Dream 1000 outreach process.
In fact it was 'Virtual Dale' making the connections --- a process we use to methodically reach out to and introduce yourself to ideal future clients, but with a VA pressing the buttons for you each day and tracking everything.
These people were in his network, lurking quietly in the background, but not engaging with his webinars or previous offers.
What pulled them out of the woodwork was a simple article Dale had written. Technically it was 'AI Dale' who wrote the article. ie the custom GPT that we've programmed with Dale's IP, writing style, and business info.
It wasn’t flashy or promotional. It was just a thoughtful, helpful piece addressing some of the big financial challenges expats face when they’re repatriating.
Once it was published, it was 'Digital Dale' doing the heavy lifting on LinkedIn, whilst 'real life Dale' was free to plan his next trip.
Dale’s secret?
“Set up your version of Digital Dale and just be helpful,” he said.
“I’ve been posting once a week—nothing fancy. But it turns out, even that consistency pays off. I wasn’t selling; I was just offering useful info.”
One of the new clients even admitted that he’d ignored previous invitations from Dale, but something about the article changed things.
He told Dale, “I’ve seen your posts for a while now. They’ve always been helpful, not pushy. And that’s why I reached out.”
For Dale, the message was clear: “People are paying attention, even when you think they aren’t. You’ve just got to show up consistently and provide value.”
His article ended up getting 1,800 impressions—not viral by any stretch, but that’s the thing. It wasn’t about going viral; it was about engaging the right people.
And in Dale’s case, those right people turned out to be two high-net-worth clients with repatriation planning needs.
The takeaway here is simple: consistency beats complexity. You don’t need to be churning out groundbreaking content every day.
You just need to show up regularly, share what you know, and be helpful. Because when you do, you start to build trust—and that’s when the lurkers in your network suddenly become your next clients.
As Dale put it, “Just doing something as boring as posting once a week, if you’re helpful, you’re going to kick goals.”
