2 Mistakes With Your Home Page That Will Lose You Customers
In the first installment of this Baby Steps series you saw that the most important thing to do first is get your website online. Until you've done that you're not even in the Internet Marketing game. People today don't even consider you a real business if they can't find you online. So that is the absolute starting point for your online marketing strategy.
You don't have to have all the glitzy bells and whistles everybody wants you to think you need. They're just saying that so you'll buy something from them. They need you to think you need them, so they try to create a felt need in you to get their help.
Nothing wrong with that. That's marketing. That's why you're online too! To attract people to your products and services.
But you can figure out what bells and whistles make sense for your business later on. Right now you need to get yourself online first. You saw in that previous post that the basics you need to be online with your website are a good Home Page, About page, and Contact page. What does your company do? Who are you? How do I get in touch with you? That's it.
In this post I want to talk about what your Home page should look like, because this is one place where a lot of people make big mistakes that cost them lots of potential customers. You Home page is about your company. What does your company do? What are your products and services?
It is easy to do this wrong though and lose yourself customers. It can cost you a lot of business. So I want to talk about two mistakes people make with this, and how to do it right.
