The number ONE thing holding you back from experiencing your best life is …..your own subconscious mind.
Your subconscious mind literally rules your day for at least 95% of the day (if you allow it to) and for most of the population this is how it is.
And the automated programs that are stored in the subconscious mind are created from:
-??????repeated actions you do each day (brush teeth, make breakfast, drive etc)
-??????Your own “Bias” (glass half full/empty type of person)
-??????Your “conditioning” from the past – what happened TO you as a child
-??????Your thoughts and beliefs about WHO you are
All of these create the “lens” or the perspective that you view the world from.?And as we only view about 1% of everything that is going on around us at any one time, then it’s important that we understand that this is only OUR perspective and nobody else’s.
If we think of our brain as one huge computer, then I like to think of the subconscious mind acting like a computer room where there are no people.?All it does is send out batch programs of thoughts, feelings and actions that it has memorised so that it can create a predictable outcome.
Think how you automatically get dressed in the morning, you probably put the same foot first in your trousers or skirt, put the same shoe on first, tie your laces the same way, have a similar breakfast routine, drive and arrive somewhere without even remembering how you got there……
And that’s because your mind KNOWS how to do this – the more you do something the faster you can do it and the neural pathway in your brain becomes stronger and stronger.
And your brain LOVES this for 2 main reasons:
1)???It saves a massive amount of energy in the form of processing power to free it up for creative thought, metabolising food and all your other bodily functions (including the fight/flight stress response)
2)???Repeating patterns of past behaviour means it is “familiar” and therefore SAFE – you have stayed alive so far, and so therefore your brain feels NO need to intervene.
And it’s only really when we see that we are unhappy in a certain area of our life that we may start to notice a pattern of behaviour.
At work it could be:
-??????being overlooked for promotion – feeling ‘unseen’ in your career over and over
-??????having fear or anxiety over specific tasks eg presenting or speaking
-??????feeling like an impostor/not good enough
-??????feeling underpaid and overworked
-??????Feels unable to ask for help or delegate
-??????Perfectionism, procrastination or overthinking everything
In your relationships it could be:
-??????always attracting emotionally unavailable partners
-??????being an “overgiver” or a “people pleaser” leaving you feeling tired and resentful
-??????finding a good relationship and then sabotaging it in some way through anger, jealousy, lack of trust, fear or just losing interest
With your finances it could be:
-??????Hitting an income ceiling and not being able to get past it
-??????As fast as money comes in, it goes out just as fast and you never seem to get ahead
-??????undercharging clients or not asking for a pay rise
And of course there are SO many examples I could give because anywhere where we are not achieving exactly what we want – then WE are holding ourselves back.

And no matter how much we reason with our logical mind that we want to change……it seems you can only change for a short period of time and then the same patterns seem to come in again.
Sound familiar?
Well it happens to everyone, but is especially noticeable when you are trying to make changes in your life.
Nostalgia
You probably don’t remember being a baby or a toddler.?BUT if you have your own children, have you noticed that when toddlers try to walk they keep falling over but they NEVER give up??They keep on trying until they succeed.
Ever watched a baby or toddler look at themselves in the mirror? ?
They don’t worry what they look like – they’ll push food in their hair, they’ll have a dirty nose and an even dirtier bottom(!) and yet they laugh and smile at themselves in the mirror without feeling one bit self conscious.?
You see we’re BORN to succeed at ANYTHING that we decide we want to achieve and we’re born believing that we are completely loveable exactly as we are.
But some how we lose that belief along the way.
So what happened between being a baby or toddler and the present moment that has created how you feel about your life now?
Your Programming
Taking the metaphor of your brain being like a massive computer – then every computer needs a base program to run from.?Your base program is created between the ages of 0-7 years old.
During these first 7 years of your life you made beliefs about who you are in a number of ways:
-??????how your parents or caregivers behaved around you
-??????how your parents or caregivers responded to YOUR primal needs of feeling safe, feeling loved, feeling significant, feeling connected
-??????the experiences that happened to you or went on around you
-??????Your natural BIAS towards positivity or negativity
And all of this creates your own “lens” of the world and some firm beliefs about who you are and what you can achieve in life.
Changing the Programming:
Most people are not aware of their programming.?They feel it is just “who I am and I cannot change the basis of who I am”
But this simply isn’t true.
You can change ANY aspect of your behaviour when you know how.
You could hire a high performance coach to help you move towards your goal and this could certainly help.
But if you’re struggling with feelings that don’t feel congruent to what you’re trying to achieve, or patterns that just keep cropping up no matter how many times you try and push past them, or if you've done really well in your life but you STILL don't feel good inside.......?Then maybe it’s time to dig a little deeper into the subconscious, because ALL the answers are there.
