2 Key Tips for Blog CTAs from a Copwriting Expert

For most businesses, the ultimate goal of their blog is to convert. Although CTAs aren't the only way to do that they are a tried and true method. Here are two things I've learned about writing CTAs from my time working with leading brands like Wrike, Cvent, and Disney.

  1. Netflix your content.

Binge, binge, binge. That's the buzzword for any content powerhouse that converts. Netflix relies on its viewers to be too absorbed by their content to resist the next episode. You can do use the same tactic just by ending your blog article with a super attractive link to the next related article.

What makes a link super attractive? It has to check 2 boxes:

  • relevance to both the target audience and the search intent for the keyword of the article you just wrapped up
  • offers a logical next step for readers i.e. once they've solved the first step of the problem they came to this post to solve, they'll either need to continue to step two in the next post or consider this other related topic for more tips

2. Do the Oprah.

You get a download and you get a download and you get download!!! In other words, give stuff away. Promise a quick win, something they can actively use in the next hour or day that will give them a tangible, positive result, no matter how small. Freebies, downloads, and high value long form content like podcasts are great for this.
