2 Easy Ways to Protect Your Machine Tool Investment

In today’s busy shop environments, it can be all too easy to put off machine tool maintenance procedures in favor of keeping those chips flying. At Okuma we understand this dilemma, and therefore invest time and resources in making our parts and service programs as easy to use and speedy as possible. Recently we rolled out two new programs designed to help our customers take care of machine tool purchases and protect these investments.

Okuma CARE Kits

Okuma’s CARE Kits are customized for the particular machine tool you purchase, and provide select preventive maintenance parts we recommend replacing each year (or more often, with heavy usage). For example, the CARE PM Kit for an Okuma LB-3000EX & EXII contains saddle wipers, cross slide wipers, way cover wipers, hydraulic filters, lube filters and more. Primarily, these are the wear parts and filters that need periodic replacement on any machine tool.

In the past, these would have been offered as single line items. Users would need to go through a massive parts book to figure out which specific parts they needed to order. There could be the additional complicating factor of determining which parts were in stock at any given moment.

The CARE Kit is a pre-assembled collection of everything you need, under one part number, with one price, delivered in a convenient package that’s based on your model of machine tool. To make it even easier to take advantage of these kits, we offer them at a price that’s about 15% off the list price when buying the items individually. There is no waiting for kits to be delivered, they are in stock at your local Okuma Distributor and at Okuma America. Okuma continues to add new models to the program each month and in cases when a particular model is not profiled yet, a simple call to your Distributor will provide you with all the related details on price and delivery.

When a machine tool is down you want an easy way to identify the source of the problem. Or perhaps you’d like to take a machine out of operation and do some diagnostic work, to ensure all is in good working order. Both of these scenarios are perfect candidates for our OSP Courtesy Electrical Component Inspection service.

Okuma’s Free Evaluation provides our users a unique no risk, free assessment of your machine’s control devices including servo system, display unit, I/O devices, CPU and spindle control system. Shipping to and from our facility is free and so is the evaluation. Within 24 hours of receiving your device, our team will evaluate the unit and provide a variety of options consisting of repair and return, exchange or upgrade to a new device (if applicable). Customers can consider these three options and determine what suits them best in terms of both cost and lead time for the service.

Overall our goal is to provide our customers with a convenient solution that’s easy, convenient and fast, while also providing the peace of mind that the OEM is providing your service. The OEM is the only service provider that has the specific knowledge of how your machine is built and operates, plus we, along with our distributors, have extensive experience working on Okuma machines in the field. You just can’t beat our combination of know-how + experience.

These new service programs are part of our mission to “passionately pursue a customer for life.” We go out of our way to make sure our customers are taken care of, not just before the sale, not just during the sale, but each and every day the customer has an Okuma machine tool sitting in their shop. To us, our customers are partners for life.
