2 content types that blew up in the last 2 weeks (and what you can learn from it)

In the last 2 weeks, I created 2 pieces of content that have been shared like wildfire, with some lessons and insights I think you will love.

Last week I shared a post I wrote on Medium and how you can ignite a hot topic in your industry too.

(Missed it? Read it again right here)

This post is continuing to do fly around the interwebs, doing the rounds and reaching new audiences for me since I hit publish.

That piece of content didn't live on my own blog; I will be posting a shorter version of it there in the coming weeks, but it sparked a conversation that has caused a stir and allowed more people to meet me and my work.

Another post that went crazy was a simple LeadPage with a screencast showing how I created a hack to automate a Facebook Live as a transcript file in Trello.

(You can see the page right here.)

This page wasn't fancy shmancy, but it was something that people found SUPER useful.

The page views continue to rise as it gets shared around Facebook groups and social media.

2 different pieces of content, neither of which live on my blog, but both with their own wins.

The Medium post added to industry conversation, was highly shareable, and is a hot topic for right now.

The LeadPage showed something REALLY helpful with no opt-in required.

So, how do they build my audience if they aren't on my site?

Well, the LeadPage has a Facebook tracking code installed so I can re-target page viewers with other useful content and high-value optins.

The Medium post also offered the opt-in for my newsletter.

But audience building is only ONE way to measure the success of content.

These 2 examples positioned me as a helper, a nerd, and a conversation starter.

List growth, likes and comments are one way to measure and are tangible feedback as numbers.

Messages of thanks, personal introductions, and content amplification on auto also measure how your audience respond to what you are creating for them.

That feedback loop is SO important. It's the conversation you partake in that's a barometer of what people need and want to hear, right now, from YOU.

Have either of these posts inspired you to create a "hot topic" post or a "super helper" post?

Hit reply and let me know what you plan to try.
