The 2 Constants of The Business Equation
Addendum to The Business Equation:

So as mentioned there are the 4 variables of this equation where each organization can vary in performance. However, there are 2 load baring constants that are given, and not variables, but are usually underpinning all relationships and results, the 1st is usually stable and unchanging, and the 2nd is a given, as mandatory.
1st. is location,
Location is a key factor that you will come across, be it the location of your offices, the location of your workforce, the location of your customers, and the location of your partners and vendors.
Location location location, right?
This constant will determine the physical or digital logistics of the interactions of your business. Be it where things are sold, manufactured, and the local taxation and regulations of your workforce, where your workforce congregates, where goods or services are interacted on or exchanged, etc. etc. this also includes the implied physical or digital relist ate goods and people are interacting in. The “relist ate” and “platforms influence us in subtle yet direct ways, figuring out and understanding these interactions in relation to environment have a focus and discipline called Environmental psychology, most don’t think about it, but I’ll give a simple example, nature has shown it can help us feel better and have restorative effects on our energy and spirit. Introducing nature into an otherwise sterol environment does drastically improve workforce health. ?Let’s leave this here, as it can become its own rabbit hole.
Ok, so this 2nd constant, is almost a variable in itself. It’s considered a constant, as if a business adjusts this deliberately it better be careful, as if it goes below acceptable standards, it can actually make or break an organization, as well as influence their service or product’s demand on this constant alone. This constant is expected by default, and if it is absent, nothing you or anyone does will be able to salvage the relationship. This constant is created and tested every day in every interaction, every transaction. Sometimes it is obvious for all to see, other times it is subtle. Leaders MUST set standards and examples for all to follow, fore if leaders lax in this constant, it doesn’t just erode confidence in the organization or good or service, but can result in regulatory action, meaning fines, revocation of licenses, or other legal action. Protocols and procedures have been mandated across all industries to ensure this constant is upheld within acceptable parameters. So, can you name this constant?
It's more loosely called “organizational ethics, which has to do with culture, but more specifically it boils ??down to a single word, and that word is “Safety.”
1.????The workforce has the right to be informed about safety concerns in doing their job.
2.????Managers at all levels have the responsibility of training and educating the workforce on this, be it physical safety, harassment on the job, or any other risks to the workforce that may damage the workforce individuals throughout the course of working in the chosen industry.
3.????The consumer has the right to expect minimal or no safety concerns or risks in using the good or service in exchange for their payment, or at least have been duly noted, and informed.?
4.????The impact on the environment of said good or service as how “environmentally safe” it is, is noted, and explained, to minimize sustainability concerns,?
5.????The Safety concerns on specific people, demographics or things like nutrition are explicitly stated, so consumers can choose products based on such information for health and similar concerns, knowing the products effects have been thoroughly researched.
So, on reflection, how safe do you feel?

Do you feel informed?
This concept of safety is also extended to society and governance, we all want a safe home a safe community a safe workplace a safe school, a safe world, but how do we do it?
It has become the top responsibility of every leader of every organization of every nation to deliver on the metrics of safety, we may want this and that, but without safety, without the base building blocks, we will have nothing.
Beware of those who tell you a best defense is a good offense. Beware of those who attack 1st Beware of those who go around knocking down other’s buildings to make it look like they are the last one standing or the tallest.
As I write this in April of 2023, we are seemingly in a post Covid world. Conspiracies aside, most of us did not feel safe during Covid, for a variety of reasons, the effects of covid aside, nations around the world panicked, citizens around the world saw basic human rights taken away in the name of safety of the masses, and facts and platforms were weaponized into “information wars”
Never before has there been such a massive hysteria, lockdowns and quarantines were enforced
Due to all this, it became increasingly difficult to feel safe, thus harder and harder for people to envision a future. This led to massive mental health crisis elevations, leading to fractured factions based on ideology, primarily those who saw Covid vaccines as necessary, and those who decided covid vaccines were too heavy a price to pay
Once we have safety, we can build whatever we want, but without it, the jenga blocks of our lives and society can not stand.
Location and Safety need to be modeled by leadership, need to be reinforced as they go hand in hand. And are variables to each other. Picking the right location(s) will inform your safety standards, and the right safety standards will resonate out to the whole organization, and if your people feel “safe”, they will dig in, and make your place a pillar of creation. If, however you jeopardize the safety of your people through cost saving measures or any other reason, they will always remember, be they your customers or workforce, and never forgive you.
They will also remember if you place the safety of certain people over others, this action will destroy all that that is build, as it indicates a selfish perspective, not becoming of those who are meant to lead.
As I leave this section, reflect on your priorities, and your responsibilities, lead and learn with confidence, do what you think is right, and be ethical in all that you do.
Yes, it’s hard, and yes, it’s complicated, but we are not destined to repeat our old cycles.?have the courage of your convictions, and find that inner strength to change what you can, whare you are.
Build yourself, build your community, build your organization, and one day, you will see all you built, and see that it was good.
Ask yourself, what you need to do to implement the vail of ignorance, so all you work with, and fore can be good and ethical and safe for as many people as possible. And remember, the old business models would tell you to do the best for your stakeholders, but in this new age, understanding your priority should be doing the best for your customers is where your focus should be.
