2 Cloud computing predictions that you have never heard of

Useful predictions focus on specific aspects of cloud computing. Generalized predictions rarely hold in the real world. Companies that implement particular technology, such as operations, development, governance, security, etc., need to know what changes are upcoming and what potential changes exist. Therefore, focusing the predictions on cloud computing in the narrow sense rather than cloud computing in the broad sense.

These are two cloud predictions for 2022 about governance and cloud operations :

Governance

Multicloud and other factors that drive the cloud complexity problem will continue to rise in 2022. For enterprises that need to get control of their overly complicated cloud platform, governance will become a priority. In the case of cost governance, the spotlight will be on high-priority issues that many enterprises will have to deal with, such as financial operations (finops).

Cloud costs went out of control in most enterprises in 2021. Cloud providers don't raise prices, but staff who use cloud services aren't held accountable. Many cost governance solutions can monitor the who, when, where, why, and how of cloud service consumption.

Governance prediction for 2022:

Enterprises will focus on their finops governance issues. Enterprises that have moved 20% of their workload and data to the cloud will refocus on governance with purpose-built tools and customizations. The key to success will be to create an accountability culture around cloud cost governance as enterprises deploy capable tools.

Cloud-ops

Implementers of cloud-based systems have always focused on cloud-ops, so what can be new in 2022? Automation and abstraction will be reemphasized, and emerging tools will provide these capabilities.

The more traditional cloud ops tools and the new AIops derivatives lack abstraction and automation. Even though most tool providers claim to offer both, the reality is that automation systems (such as the ability to provide self-healing services) are essentially loosely coupled with operations tools. Sometimes, both tools are used separately. Automating many operations tasks that work with overly complex systems is the primary weapon against complexity.

 Cloud-ops prediction:

Cloud complexity problems were better understood this year. In 2022, enterprises will pay more attention to tools that can aid them in solving their most pressing complexity problems, such as finops governance and cloud-ops automation.
