2 + 2 = 5?

Listening is one thing, being heard is another. Since the developed world, as most of us know it, has taught us that we can do anything, our arrogance keeps us in over our heads because we don't have training in stage theory per se, and what that means in the helping business... we are just solving problems... without thinking... without hearing what's really going on.

Most of us can't grok 2 + 2 = 5, but in development, it's a common equation IMHO.

While it opens a can of worms, so to speak, it always helps us remain humble and searching for ways to dignify our help with others.
