1st and Worst

Recently, I’ve noticed a few companies in the video space start to lead with the idea that they invented everything. In most cases, these statements are laughably false, and they annoy me.?

No one in 2023 can reasonably claim to have invented management applications, or App stores, or rip off other companies designs and claim them to be a new paradigm , to do so makes those making the claims seem naive, foolish or dishonest.

Those claims are not only obviously false, but they are also entirely irrelevant.

The original of anything is almost always the worst version. Why would anyone want to claim that “prize”??

The Wright Brothers' early aircraft were incredible feats of engineering, but do you want to use one on your next flight? Do you want the first car? TV? Heart surgery? Probably not.

Certainly, innovation is good and moves the industry forward, but in the real world, clients are looking to have a meeting with other humans; the technology should be so good, so sophisticated, that it blends into the background. The meeting is what matters, not the technology.

Technologists can get rather carried away sometimes about their own inventions. I’d recommend everyone calm down a bit and remember we’re meant to be solving clients' business problems.

So next time someone tries to tell you that their company was the first company to do a certain thing.

Squint a bit and ask, so what?

Absolutely! Loved how the panel discussion in May 2023 emphasized the evolving nature of behavioral health practices. It's a reminder that growth and change are constant. Looking forward to seeing how we continue to adapt and innovate! #BehavioralHealthEvolution ??

Simon I’d love to know who has you wound up to the point of writing this one :). Being around for as long as we have I love watching others take credit for things I know are not true, because I witnessed those events myself.

Good article and makes sense. However, human beings have endless interest where/when things start. The family tree, automobiles, even airplanes. Even more so, we love to see the progression or obsolescence. Who doesn’t love the History Channel? “The men who built America.” Right?

Nice pic Simon, even the Wright Brothers were beaten by Richard Pearse of New Zealand for the first powered manned flight!
