The 1st Universal Infrastructure As Code is here! Wait... What Does That Mean?

At PulumiUP, we announced new capabilities to elevate Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to Universal. But you may ask, what does that even mean?

Growth in cloud adoption has made all software become cloud software. In turn, all developers are cloud developers. When there are thousands of cloud resources and services to choose from, infrastructure becomes an innovation enabler.

"The complexity of the modern cloud is just enormous, and it requires a different approach. We need to move beyond copy and pasting scripts to software engineering for the cloud," said Founder/CEO?Joe Duffy during the PulumiUP keynote.

Many developers don't feel empowered. Cloud modernization has many challenges, and it takes a long time. The end results often fall short.

We believe in empowering every builder in any team to build modern cloud software, with more collaboration and fun.

Universal stands for? Every Cloud, Every Language, Every Builder, Every Architecture, and Every Format.

Image with text: Every cloud. 80+ public, private, and hybrid clouds, including AWS, Azure, Google, Kubernetes. Every language. Support for all the top cloud languages, scaling up from simple to complex use cases. Every builder. The first platform for developers and infra experts alike, enabling Cloud Engineering at scale. Every architecture. One standard workflow for containers, serverless, managed services, with VMs in the mix too. Every cloud resource. Seamlessly adopt IaC no matter where you’re coming from, TF, CFN, ARM, or manual.

The new features announced during our annual cloud engineering event bring together Pulumi’s?Universal Infrastructure as Code?offering, supporting a broader range of builders, clouds, programming languages, and cloud architectures. In case you missed it, these are the new features:

  • Language support for Java?and JVM languages, including Java ecosystem tools like IDEs, build tools, libraries, frameworks, and more.
  • Language support for YAML?and languages that compile to YAML (e.g., CUE), including the ability to convert Pulumi YAML into any other language.
  • Pulumi Crosswalk (AWSx)?is now available in all languages, including Java and YAML.
  • AWS CDK on Pulumi?enables the deployment of 1,000+ CDK constructs from within Pulumi programs.
  • 12+ new providers,?including Oracle Cloud, Pulumi Service, Databricks, JFrog Artifactory, Slack, and more.
  • Pulumi CrossCode?is the underlying technology of Pulumi that provides universal infrastructure and policy as code.

Pulumi's Universal Infrastructure as Code platform supports the broadest range of builders, clouds, programming languages, and modern cloud architectures. But we are not going to stop here. We see an amazing opportunity to continue to drive innovation in Infrastructure as Code and the future of Cloud Engineering.?
