1st UK patient receives a private Covid vaccination

Following on from Pharmadoctor’s announcement last month that it had launched the UK’s first private Covid vaccination service via its nationwide network of partner pharmacies, the clinical service provider has confirmed today that the first UK patients have started receiving their private Covid jabs.

Private Covid vaccinations were planned to start in April to coincide with the NHS Covid vaccination spring campaign, however some of Pharmadoctor’s partner pharmacies confirmed that they had received stock of Pfizer’s private Covid mRNA vaccine earlier than expected, so have started vaccinating their patients today.

Pharmadoctor has confirmed this morning that Dear Pharmacy & Travel Clinic with branches all over Edinburgh, Fife and Glasgow was the first of its partner pharmacies in the UK to administer Covid jabs to patients under its private service.

Commenting on being the first pharmacies to provide patients with a private Covid vaccination, Superintendent Pharmacist and owner of the Dears Pharmacy Group Mayhar Nickko-amiry said

“We are delighted to be the first provider in the UK to start privately vaccinating our patients against Covid”. He goes on to say, ‘Our new private Covid vaccination service compliments the other vaccinations services we provide in partnership with Pharmadoctor including all travel vaccinations, chicken pox, hep B and flu to name just a few”.

As reported earlier this month, patients can still opt to wait until April to receive the Novavax vaccine for around ￡50 when it becomes available, however at present it will cost patients approximately ￡75 to receive the Pfizer vaccine due to it being significantly more expensive for pharmacies to buy.

Pharmadoctor’s CEO, Graham Thoms, added,

“We are delighted to bring forward the opportunity for people to start receiving a private Covid vaccination from today. Since launching the service last month we have already received thousands of patient appointments for our partner pharmacies via our patient website ; at times we are receiving a patient appointment booking every 7 minutes. Some of our partner pharmacies have already received over 120 patient appointment bookings from us for free once signed up to provide the Pharmadoctor service”.

Since launching their service just over 4 weeks ago, Pharmadoctor has confirmed that over 250 of its partner pharmacists have already signed-up to provide the service. With more and more pharmacies being onboarded each day, Pharmadoctor expects thousands of its partner pharmacies to eventually provide its private Covid vaccination service over the next couple of months.

For the avoidance of doubt, Pharmadoctor does not charge patients anything. Registering an account, requesting appointments, completing the medical questionnaires and accessing your records is all free. The money you pay to your pharmacy all goes to the pharmacy - we do not take a cut.
