1st Europa Webinar for french co-owners of residential buildings : 1 hour to understand how to make a deep renovation simpler, better and together

12th of December was a first for AGEDEN?: the french non-profit organization held a EUROPA webinar for co-owners living in the area that it has in charge for. As a reminder, AGEDEN is one of the nine pilot partners* across Europe that implement the EUROPA One-Stop-Shop (OSS) project as a solution to accelarate renovation in residential building sector.

During this one hour online conference, aims were to explain why renovating is crucial, what to do simply and immediately to lower energy invoices (electricity, gaz, heating oil) with a small budget while preparing a deep energy renovation project,?make clear the process to optimize the potential energy savings.?

In this last part of the meeting, AGEDEN highlited steps of a typical renovation journey for residential buildings shared between co-owners?: they discovered all stakeholders needed to help them since the thinking to the renovating construction, including the different kind of legal and technical documents they have to be aware of as many as the financial supports they can pretend to.

As presented to the attendees, Europa OSS is a plus?: it helps to get easily access to a global approach rather than a non-efficient renovation that makes loosing money by trying to renovate in an incomplete way, one aspect after another whithout considering how all is linked. The financial part (Energy Efficiency Subscription) is one the major benefit?: as money investment is the main point that make deep energy renovations impossible, Europa project turns this obsacle into an opportunity with some guarantees in terms of energy savings results.

The webinar was very welcomed for the audience, particularly at this time, as the energy costs increase and the law that will be stricter year after year in France. Even though these points encourage co-owners to think about renovating, they know how important it is to also provide a better living comfort (both in summer and winter) while struggling the global warming and the degradation of natural resources.

In an other hand, AGEDEN insists on a key fact?: a deep energy renovation when it comes to a residential building shared between co-owners may take one year and a half to three years. There is no doubt about how this approach is fundamental as an efficient and long-term solution. By then, the non-profit organization alerts all citizens?: the energy sobriety should be a priority in every home. Maintaining this habit after a renovation is the best practice to maximize the success of energy saving and to minimize the cost of energy charges on bills.

Attendees were very interested in on this first Europa webinar experience?: they asked for more details all along the presentation and warmly thank the AGEDEN team. They especially mentionned the high quality of explanations?: fully understandabled for anyone with no need to have a technical knowledge. They also appreciated having someone identified to support them during the deep energy renovation journey in case of decision to renovate is made. Since the event, AGEDEN was keeping in touch with a group a co-owners : they would like to go further about their energy renovation project by getting support from the Europa french pilot.

This online conference convinced AGEDEN to schedule an other event (offline) in 2023 and open up to more co-owners, co-ownership trustee (in charge of operations to maintain functional building facilities shared between co-owners like halls, domestic waste storage, parking lots) and co-ownership concils (in charge of legally managing decisions making that may have consequences on co-owners and checking that the co-ownership trustee correctly achieves its duty).
