1MW No. 223: On Simplifying Your Life, Finding Your Systems, and Choosing the Right Yes

What’s Standing Between You and a More Focused Life?

Simplification is the art of organizing your life around purpose.

The goal isn’t elimination for elimination’s sake but to remove distractions from what’s essential.

The essence of simplification lies in clarity: knowing what truly matters and letting go of everything else. When you clear out the nonessential, you’re left with a path that aligns with your essential purpose. Each choice becomes a vote for what’s most important.?

This week, take a moment to evaluate:

What do I need to let go of that’s standing in the way of a more focused, intentional life??

Simplifying isn’t about less; it’s about depth. ?

I could not agree more. Mastering the art of saying yes to the right things transforms everything. In my experience, it’s not the abundance of opportunities but the clarity to focus on the meaningful ones that drive real success. Simplifying isn’t about doing less—it’s about doing the right things better. Systems aren't just helpful; they’re essential in creating sustainable progress, especially when life pulls us in every direction. A great tip is that if you say yes to a new opportunity, you must say no to an existing one (i.e., give up one thing you are already doing). Great insight, Greg McKeown!

This is such a valuable reminder! Saying no to distractions is just as important as saying yes to opportunities that align ??.

Finding your genius zone is how I've found clarity. I ask myself: what are 2 to 3 things I'm really good at. And focus only on going deeper on them. For verything else I: > Delegate > Delay > Delete Greg McKeown

Greg McKeown, you constantly speak to my soul. I have always considered myself a minimalist, so I gravitated to your book. For me, simplifying is constant because life, relationships, and employment opportunities are constantly presenting new distractions. I am never done! LOL! I am beginning to feel comfortable with that. Best to you!
