1917 is a war drama directed and co-produced by Sam Mendes. Winner of Best Motion picture- Drama and Best Director at this years' Golden Globe Awards, 1917 has received 10 nominations at the 92nd Academy Awards. It was a hard and Pandemonium watch which stirred something in me creating a tension so thick that I started desperately seeking for interval. I knew I have volunteered myself to powerful and cinematically brilliant watch. As I was sitting and watching its theatrical run, with constant moving camera and hidden cuts hard to find, I wondered how much of it resonates with real life, talks so much about the 'journey'. Whether you are running a company, household or is an entrepreneur of your life (like me), here are few things that stuck cord with me and might be with you, when you watch this high impact + high artistry movie. (Note: use of pronounces are just for the matter of illustrations)
- Sometimes you don't choose, you are chosen
- Journey never claims to be fair and just. It can be tough, rough and self deprecating
- Be wise in choosing your partners
- People who start journey with you, not necessarily ends up with you at the finishing line. Be prepared for sudden and unexpected departures
- When you loose map, refer to your purpose
- Mental strength is way more superior than physical strength
- Save for rainy days
- Help and support will not necessarily comes when you need the most, but when you least expect
- Never get into the business or barter of generosity
- "Announce before witnesses; some men want fight"
I left the theater with sweetness of youthful bravery and sting of the ultimate mortality of life. I wonder if reality is often wrapped in fiction.
This movie deserves your time and attention.
