"How’s the goal-setting coming along?" Steve asked, his voice brimming with curiosity and a touch of challenge, as he sipped his coffee and munched on one of the chocolate biscuits he had brought.

Tony leaned back, exhaling deeply. "Gee whiz, Steve, this 70:10:10:10 rule you gave us to implement as part of our goal setting, is no joke! Living on just 70% of our income, saving 10%, tithing another 10%, and having just £1.28 left for ‘Yahoo money’—it’s tough!"

Jayne nodded, determination glinting in her eyes. "But we get it. It’s a shift in mindset, and we’ve only just started. We’ll get better. Besides, we’ve already earmarked that 10% savings for our dream trip to Turkey!"

Steve shook his head, smiling knowingly. "Sorry to burst your bubble, Jayne, but that 10% is for your emergency fund. It’s your safety net. Don’t touch it until you’ve built up at least six months’ worth of savings”??? It’s your safety net just in case anything goes wrong.?? It means you can sleep easy at night, knowing you have 6 months of saving to fall back on.?

Tony and Jayne exchanged a startled look, the weight of the realisation sinking in.

Steve leaned forward, his tone warm and encouraging. "Don’t worry. It’s a process, and it gets easier with practice. Once you see the results, it’ll all feel worth it."

"Let’s shift gears," Steve said, pulling out a set of documents. "Your 90-day plan is the foundation for your three-year vision. This month’s focus was defining your ‘ideal employee’ to help you scale the business and hit those ambitious financial targets. Let’s see what you’ve got."

"Key Performance Indicators," Steve explained. "They’re measurable goals for each role. Without clear targets, it’s like asking someone to run a race without telling them where the finish line is. Plus, KPIs allow you to have courageous conversations about performance based on behaviours, not personalities.?? Let’s get to work and formulate these, shall we?”
