Story of the newsletter: A week ago I shared a personal story of the dangers of comparison, and how it can lead to unnecessary suffering when we get caught up in what others have and how we lack those same things. It is so unproductive and harmful. This specific instance was on what happens when others get promoted but you did not. Check out the link below to learn more about how I dealt with this comparison.

Do you know anyone who always has a victim mentality? They never take responsibility; everything is always someone else’s fault and someone else’s problem. Obviously in this day and age debt, particularly student loan debt, is a topic on the minds of many. People may wonder how aggressive they should be in paying their debt and how to balance enjoying your life with paying it off as fast as possible. This article talks about the idea of sustainable changes rather than everything all at once changes. The best habits, including financial habits, are the ones that you can actually sustain over time and not necessarily the ones that will get you there the fastest but keep you miserable the whole time. You can still spend money and pay off debt at the same time.?

Covid and all of the uncertainty it has brought definitely has caused a lot of couples to reevaluate their finances and how they approach them as a team. There’s no doubting it, finances are a huge part of any long-term relationship. Problems in this area are one of the main reasons couple split. It?is important to get them right or they can be a huge and persistent issue. This article has great tips on how to communicate better and communicate more about money, and how that will lead to a happier relationship.?
This article is a little longer than some of the other ones and a bit more meta-but it is well worth the time. I read through it twice to make sure I really got its message. I think we’ve all dealt with times where our mind gets racing into negative thoughts and it can kind of put us into an unhappy mental place. We try to fight the thoughts or stop them but we just can’t, and that can make us feel even worse. We feel bad about our bad thoughts, and that just adds suffering. So what are we to so? The article talks about separating yourself from your mind and your thoughts when they are out of control. We must step back and observe our minds. You are not your thoughts. It’s a normal function of the human brain for random thoughts to pop up. If we can just accept the thoughts for what they are without becoming too wrapped up in them then they lose their power to bother us. Don’t fight them, accept them.?
There are several common objections that may come up when people are pursuing their unique dreams and passions. Those criticisms can come outside from other people or more often they are generated from within our minds. Our brains want us to play it safe because our brains desire certainty over the unknown, even if that certainty isn’t what we went. But if we listen to those critical voices it could lead to us being filled with regret down the road for not going after what we wanted. We talked ourselves out of our dreams, and how sad is that? This article does a great job addressing and refuting some of those common objections. Don’t let others’ or your own misguided opinions keep you from going after what you really want. Regret is worse than failure.?
