1,818 Invitations Issued for Canadian Work Permits in Latest IEC 2024 Draw

During the week ending on May 11, 2024, the International Experience Canada (IEC) 2024 season issued a total of 1,818 work permit invitations through its rounds of invitations.

Of these, 1,568 invitations fell under the Working Holiday category. Currently, there are 33,290 applicants from 34 different countries in the Working Holiday Pool.

The Young Professional category sent out 169 invitations, while the International Co-op (internship) category sent out 81 invitations.

The IEC 2024 season officially commenced on December 11, 2023, allowing international youth from eligible countries to submit their profiles to the IEC pool. In December, the Canadian government announced that the first round of invitations would start during the week of January 8, 2024.

This update provides information on the countries that have received invitations as of May 11, 2024, along with their respective 2024 quotas, the number of candidates in the pool, and their prospects of receiving an invitation in the forthcoming weeks.

1. IEC 2024 Working Holiday

IEC 2024 Working Holiday offers individuals from eligible countries an open work permit. This permit enables them to work across various firms in Canada without the need for a specific job offer. • Intend to work for the same employer at the same location specified in the job offer.

International Co-op (Internship) Program

The International Co-op (Internship) Program issues an employer-specific work visa. This program is suitable if you:

• are a post-secondary student holding a job offer for a work placement or internship in Canada,
• anticipate completing your education through this work placement or internship, and
• will be employed by the same employer at the same location throughout your stay in Canada.

What are the fees for the 2024 IEC season?

• Canada has declared that the fees for all participants in the 2024 season of the International Experience Canada (IEC) program are $172 CAD.
• The fees for the IEC vary based on the immigration program you are utilizing to enter Canada.
• Applicants for the Working Holiday program are required to pay a fee of $100 CAD. Young Professionals and International Co-op participants do not have to pay any additional fees themselves, but their employers are responsible for a $230 CAD employer compliance charge.
• Those individuals who need to provide biometrics must also pay an additional $85 CAD biometric fee when submitting the IEC fee.
