18 things on my mind starting off 2023!
Morena everybody,
As I write this it's currently 5:20 am in the morning. I've deleted social media off my phone and I'm wanting to write this when I first woke up without being influenced by anything else that's been streamed into my conscience through some algorithm that I can't control via social media and the noise of the world hasn’t infiltrated my brain stream yet. haha.
Let’s start with something chunky. So here’s 18 things that are bubbling in my head this morning.
1. I think The Rock is DEFINATELY on more than just chicken and rice.
2. The true colors of many of our industry ‘Leaders’ and their blatant lack of action due to politics, power and fear of their own future position have left me extremely disappointed to THE REAL GAME of many.
3. Times will get tougher in the next 24 months - So how will be batten the hatches on defense but still try move forward on offense?
4. ChatGPT is beautiful - but actually SCARY as shit!!! If this is Day 1. We all need to stop for a second and really see how this will play out in the next decade. 99% of peeps are SLEEPING on this.
5. There is a BIG reason a few well hyped of local NFT projects have decided to ‘pause’ for a lil bit.
6. You DON’T need good drugs for a good time - you just need a GOOD Attitude.
7. Creating for the mission to chase a Trend will make you a slave to the algorithm.
8. Everyone should go to Burning Man at least once!
9. All staff lunch rooms should have a 1 pager on all staffs personality profiles so others can see how others roll and give better insights for better relationships.
10. I will NEVER back down to bully, and will happily take on anyone who tries to hurt or exploit the vulnerable.
11. Can we hurry up and just crank up the taxes on tobacco and get that shit as far away from kids as possible? We already have enough bad shit in society. Shit’s juts gross.
12. What percentage of People actually even know their purpose?
13. NZ should implement a $1000 littering fine nationwide. I don’t feel we’re 100% Pure at all.
14. What happens to society if the ‘Good Ones’ stop trying? Is this happening already?
15. I regret not stopping and celebrating more of my wins over my ‘career’ to date.
16. If the government was treated like an actual startup, how many people would be fired and what proper tech would be integrated to speed it up?
17. I genuinely had to ask Siri how old I was the other day? There is SO much wrong with that. ahha.
18. I DON’T have any inside knowledge to this but I think Bob Iger has come back in at Disney CEO to get bought by Tim Cook and Apple. Seriously!
So now that’s out of the way let me decompress a lil more - 2022 was a pretty big year, and just like everyone else. I did some smart shit - some dumb shit and now have a new hit list of action I want to get into this year,
But then over the break I had a mini mental block thinking about the profile and responsibility that I have when I speak out on certain things or just in general with sharing thoughts and thinking that are in my head so loud and so publicly.?I then decided to ask the question publicly of should I totally go off the grid in 2023 or double down and go more publicly.?Genuinely, should I just flag posting all together and just go on with my life? Or double down on things I do and am thinking etc? I also asked a couple of people that were close to me what they thought about balancing the responsibility of having a voice versus and the downside that comes along with it. And truly making sure that the intent and main drivers behind the production work for the right reasons.
Here was the post and results on?my LinkedIn.
The people have spoken!

2023 = DOUBLE DOWN.
I was digging into this a lil more and I did realize something about my specific situation. Their GENUINELY aren't too many people that have the capability to be able to be upfront and honest about so many different issues publicly that they are coming across, with enough of a platform to do so. I mean - I don't have a boss to answer to, I don't have an HR team watching my stream, I don't have any corporate responsibilities that put invisible pressure on me to act or talk a certain way or have possible commercial blowback like some others. So one of the biggest things that I've been thinking about having a voice is about this thought of FREEDOM of speech and FREEDOM of thought. And what that actually means. It’s a privilege. It really is a privilege, and I need to embrace it more.
Then a good friend sent me this which really stuck with me in dissecting what my brain was going through.
This hit home for sure. In someways I guess I have been a little bit fearful I've been able to just double double and commit to having a voice publicly. But then when I zoom out and think about when I'll be 70 or 80 years old looking back, what would I want to have more regret for? Laughing about how crazy are used to be with the things that I was thinking and documenting what was coming out of my brain? Or more importantly the possible personal regret for not having the bravery to actually say to speak up what was on my mind?
So for me - I would like 2023 to be a year with a little bit more focus and mental transformation for myself. Doubling down where it matters and feeling a lot more comfortable with having a voice publicly. Even though my intent maybe right and my chaotic communication style is definitely not for everybody, the key pieces of the message that exist within it I do feel have legs. And I think I just need to believe in that a bit more. Aka - back myself!
That's part of the reason I deleted social media off my phone once again. I just always want to make sure that I am choosing to be a little bit more present and maybe and possibly more productive with my time. So I think in 2023 I'm going to try and brain dump more of my thinking out into the public domain like this. They may be ideas, they may be concepts, opinions and thoughts.
They might turn out to be right, they might turn out to be wrong, BUT THEY WILL BE MINE!
So what’s my focus and headspace at atm………
1. Get into a new and more productive work routine.
2. Triple Down on things that matter.
3. BLOCK out things that don’t.
That’s all for this morning. haha. I'd be interested to know in your own world where your focus is at? What are you drilling down on and why? Where are you going to try lock in on to move forward.
And for all those who enjoy what I have to say and think. THANK YOU. As long as it plants a few more seeds for others to think a bit better or braver - it makes it all worth it. Coolio.
