As a mother to my two wonderful children, I've come to realize that we only have 18 summers to spend with them before they embark on their own journeys. This thought has been both a gentle reminder and a powerful motivator to make each summer count, filling them with core memories and adventures that shape who they are.
The Magic of Firsts
Our journey began with the magic of firsts. I remember my daughter's first bites of a baguette in Paris. Her eyes lighting up with delight as she experienced the simple yet profound joy of freshly baked goods from a bustling Parisian boulangerie. It was a moment that sparked her appreciation for culinary adventures and the stories food can tell. My son, on his first trip to the beach, was captivated by the endless expanse of sand and sea. His laughter echoing above the sound of crashing waves as he built sandcastles and chased the tide. These experiences were more than just vacations; they were opportunities for them to explore and learn about the world around them.
Adventures Beyond Borders
As they grew older, our summers became filled with global learning experiences. We traveled to historical landmarks in Europe, where my daughter marveled at the grandeur of ancient architecture and my son eagerly absorbed stories of knights and castles. In Asia, we immersed ourselves in vibrant cultures, tasting new foods and learning about traditions that broadened their perspectives. And their best memories from the hospitality and sharing home cooked meals with their extended families. Each destination was a classroom without walls, teaching them lessons in empathy, diversity, and resilience.

Building Core Memories
Beyond the destinations, it was the shared experiences that built core memories. I recall us navigating bustling markets together, where my children learned the art of bargaining and the value of communication. We hiked through lush forests, where they discovered the importance of perseverance as they reached breathtaking vistas. These moments taught them more than geography or history; they taught them about life.
Cherishing Every Moment
Now, as I reflect on these precious summers, I am filled with gratitude for the time we've spent together. Each summer was a chapter in their story, filled with laughter, learning, and love. While we still have some summers left before they set off on their own paths, I am committed to making each one as meaningful as possible.
In sharing this journey on LinkedIn, I hope to inspire other parents to cherish every moment with their children. Whether it's exploring new places or simply enjoying each other's company at home, these summers are fleeting but invaluable. Let's make them count.
