Circularity report Vestiaire Collective

This research from Vestiaire Collective provides compelling evidence challenging the notion that fast fashion is more cost-effective. By comparing the durability and wearability of second-hand clothing with new fast fashion purchases, the study reveals that high-quality second-hand items offer a significantly lower cost-per-wear. This finding underscores the value of investing in well-made, pre-owned fashion pieces as a more sustainable and economical choice over constantly buying cheap, disposable clothing.

What to expect from the next Global Fashion Agenda

What's on the agenda at the 15th annual Global Fashion Summit? Opening State of Fashion 'Ties that Bind' Exhibition on 17 May

State of Fashion 2024 | Ties that Bind brings together creative practices in fashion, textiles and contemporary art from across the Global South. This edition of the Biennale explores the complexities of tradition, the political power of clothing, and alternative approaches to exploitative fashion systems. Come celebrate the opening on the 17th of May 2024 by visiting the following events.

State of Fashion x VPRO Tegenlicht Meet-up: ‘Uit de Kleren’

During the State of Fashion x VPRO Tegenlicht Meet-up: ‘Uit de Kleren’, we will show excerpts from the Tegenlicht broadcast and engage in conversation with Host JeanPaul Paula , Louise Bennetts , Rachel Dedman , Kallol Datta , Sunny Dolat , the co-curators and interlocutors of the State of Fashion Biennale. In addition, Lara Wolters , who is part of the European Parliament, will join the conversation.

Festive parade through Arnhem

Under the guidance of fashion designer Ruben Jurri?n B. , pupils of Thomas a Kempis College, created a mini-collection with the theme ‘sleep cuddly’ for the Atelier Teddy, in collaboration with Bureau Ruimtekoers. Curious about the result? Come and watch the festive parade of Thomas a Kempis College pupils on 17 May from 14:30, starting at Rembrandt, towards Rozet.

?? SUCCESSFUL COLLABORATION

In 2023, Joline Jolink and her partner decided to move to a farm in Welsum, Overijssel. For them, the perfect place to take the next step. They dreamed of a regenerative Fashion Farm where people can see how the clothing is made from natural raw materials that they grow themselves. Therefore they have to renovate the chicken barn to let their dream come true. ??

To make it a reality, Joline Jolink set up a successful crowdfunding campaign. MUMSTER made the crowdfunding video to help reach their goal. We are very proud of Joline Jolink and her team for achieving €146.419 in time. We can’t wait for the renovated farm to open the door to its first visitors.
