18 Months In...The Evolution Of A Remanufacturer
18 months ago I joined ERC that's Electronics Remanufacturing Company a small point of the sword remanufacturer of complex electronics and mechatronics. My role here is that of VP of Operations and Engineering and within my organization are some pretty incredibly talented engineers, technicians and operations people. A lot can happen in a year...I know because we have lived it here...in that first 18 months we have tripled in size...we've stabilized our workforce, enhanced our training programs and added healthcare benefits for our employees. It has been transforming to watch the evolution of a group of men and women as they become a team!!! We are now on the verge of moving to a larger facility, adding even more technical engineers and taking the next steps toward our collective success.
I read a lot about the challenges growing businesses face...but the truth for me is that it comes down to people and passion. As we have raised the bar the growth has come from within and watching people take on responsibility and challenge technical barriers is deeply satisfying. Here at ERC we reman much more than products as a lot of our employees are on their own road to reinventing their lives...some have made mistakes that detoured their journey but here they are finding the good path to a solid and meaningful work life. So 18 months looks pretty cool from my chair....but it has little to do with me personally...rather it is the amazing transformation of the people I am tasked to manage...18 months in they are writing their own destiny and I'm proud to be part of that.
