18 European countries can now visit China visa-free

China is expanding its visa-free entry program to boost tourism and strengthen international relations. Starting October 15, 2024, citizens of Cyprus, Denmark, Greece, Portugal, and Slovenia can enter China without a visa, bringing the total number of European countries granted visa waivers to 18.?

This policy follows the inclusion of Norway in September and extends to travelers from Poland, Australia, and New Zealand, who were granted unrestricted entry in July.?

The full list of European countries now includes Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, and Switzerland.?

Visa-free access, available until the end of 2025, applies to short stays for tourism, business, and family visits. This initiative is part of China’s strategy to revive post-COVID-19 tourism and build stronger economic ties with Europe through diplomatic efforts.?

Travelers eligible for China’s new visa-free policy can stay for up to 15 days, making it an ideal option for short-term visits. The visa exemption applies to a range of activities, including tourism, business engagements, family visits, and transit, allowing flexibility for those entering the country.?

By simplifying entry for these nations, China seeks to enhance cultural exchanges and stimulate international travel, further solidifying its global connections.?
