I've been working with thousands of salespeople so far this year and it's amazing how many companies, from startups to multi-billion dollar businesses, are barely scratching the surface with using LinkedIn.
Today I thought I'd share some unique insights into what REALLY is working...
Not just from me
Not just from my experience
But from YOU, from what is and isn't working right now on the front line of LinkedIn.
Today I'm sharing 18 BIG Social Selling statistics, and some of these shocked even me!
These statistics have been sourced from multiple studies and from polls run on my own LinkedIn profile and company page (with between 2,000 - 15,000 salespeople voting).
Let's dig straight in...
1) 78% of people are using LinkedIn on their MOBILE PHONE
Over 2,000 people voted on?this poll ?with a whopping 78% saying they primarily use LinkedIn on their mobile phone. This is a big signal that shorter and easier to consume content is important in 2023.?
2) 75% of B2B buyers use social media to make buying decisions (LinkedIn Research )
Your prospects, the decision makers you're trying to sell to, are using platforms like this and it is influencing them. The key is to use it properly so it's YOUR content that influences them.
3) Only 28% of people are currently generating INBOUND leads from LinkedIn right now (LinkedIn Poll )
I believe most people, teams and companies could be generating inbound leads from LinkedIn, or generating more than they currently are. There is a gold mine of opportunities for those willing to mine it.?
4) 74% of people DO NOT LIKE sending or receiving voice notes on LinkedIn (LinkedIn Poll)?
This was a poll I ran this week and I wasn't expecting so many people to say that they DO NOT like voice notes on LinkedIn. Now this does not mean you shouldn't send them!! Far from it. What it highlights is that 26% DO like sending them and receiving them which means they do work. But this is why it's crucial to send them ALONGSIDE written messages, video messages, emails, cold calls etc.
5) 16.2% of LinkedIn users are active DAILY (Statista )
It may seem like a small percentage, but based on the total LinkedIn users nearing 1 billion, that is A LOT of people (including your prospects and customers) using this platform every single day.?
6) 87% of people are NOT sending video messages on LinkedIn to prospects(LinkedIn Poll )
Given that almost all salespeople make cold calls, the fact that so few are sending video messages represents just how BIG an opportunity this is. And it won't stay like this for long, so get ahead of the competition by sending some videos!
7) Articles (31%), Photos (27%) and Text Posts (25%) are the most popular forms of content voted by users (LinkedIn Poll )?
This might surprise you, but articles like this are the most popular form of content for people on LinkedIn, ahead of photos, text posts and videos. That doesn't mean you should ONLY do this, but it should definitely be part of your strategy.
8) 65 Million LinkedIn users are decision makers (LinkedIn Research)
That's a lot of decision makers on LinkedIn, and ones you should/could have in YOUR network being influenced by YOUR content.?
9) LinkedIn LIVE's receive 24X the comments and 7X the reactions compared to regular videos (Hootsuite Stat )?
This is quite an interesting statistic, and I know there are many of you reading this who really won't want to go LIVE on LinkedIn, however for those of you who think you could, it's an amazing opportunity to drive some big engagement.
10) 68% of salespeople say they WOULD use Sales Navigator if their company provided it (LinkedIn Poll )?
That's a big number right there, 68% wanting to use Sales Navigator. I would suggest one thing, if you are thinking of providing it (or you already are), pop me a message as the majority of companies that I speak to are barely scratching the surface with it. Proper training can have a huge impact on usage and subsequently the number of opportunities and sales generated from it.?
11) 61% of people are using LinkedIn to try and generate business (LinkedIn Poll )?
LinkedIn has very much become the social selling platform and this is why it's never been more important to build YOUR personal brand and stand out against your competition.?

12) Businesses that prioritise social selling are 51% more likely to reach their sales quota (LinkedIn Research )?
The word prioritise is key as it suggests that they are investing time and money into proper training, support and coaching to leverage it properly. That's how to generate results like this...
13) 59% of people SEND & REPLY to LinkedIn messages at the WEEKEND (LinkedIn Poll )?
This is a big one, traditionally salespeople work Monday to Friday. But the rise of platforms like LinkedIn and the power of social selling, it's made sales a 24/7 game. Are your salespeople (or are YOU) missing opportunities by not being active at the weekend??
14) 41% of companies are NOT supporting their team to build their personal brands on LinkedIn (LinkedIn Poll)?
Companies will spend thousands, tens, even hundreds of thousands on traditional marketing strategies, and yet won't take advantage of one of the biggest marketing opportunities sat right in front of them, their teams personal brands.
15) Only 2% of salespeople are sending VOICE NOTES on LinkedIn (LinkedIn Poll )
2%?!! That's crazy. Audio voice notes on LinkedIn are one of the biggest opportunities right now and if your sales team aren't using them (or if you're not using them) you're missing out.?
16) 72% of people say they're generating only 0-10% of their total sales from LinkedIn (LinkedIn Poll )
Let's be fair, generating any sales from LinkedIn is a great achievement, but that still shows HUGE opportunity to make it 25-50% or even 50-100% total revenue from LinkedIn.?
17) 92% of buyers are willing to engage with an industry THOUGHT LEADER (LinkedIn Research )
This statistic is exciting and I'm working with several big companies right now who are working on building some of their team into thought leaders on LinkedIn. We've seen it every time that when it's done, the results flood in. Now's the time to start looking at the impact it could make if you, or some of your team, became thought leaders in your industry.?
18) 81% of companies did NOT provide any LinkedIn training last year (LinkedIn Poll)?

1 年Re no 10. If the company doesn’t provide Navigator why don’t ppl buy it if they think it will help them generate revenue? Re voice notes. They are just fancy voice messages. And we know how successful they are…
