Successful industrial engineers’ roles are increasingly diverse and this diversity needs to have an ambitious soul to pave the career path professionally, therefore they have the most crucial aspects of success in industrial engineering.
Today the success in engineering is not only the success in the work environment, studying or academic reputation, but is about your contributions, projects, initiatives, and have a good planning qualifications. As industrial engineer, you completely understand that the industrial engineering skill set is well suited for the fast paced, changing environment of modern organizations, so you must know the key success factors in your career to fulfill the gaps between yourself and your discipline?
The speed at which change is occurring to improve the organizations is a major problem for organizations. This problem calls for people who can comprehend new ideas and technologies as well as how they affect business processes and people. To handle these problems and take advantage of this potential, industrial engineers of today and tomorrow must be prepared. A rewarding role and a successful career are rewards for doing this.
Industrial engineers are preferred candidates for a variety of job opportunities in many industries due to a number of characteristics. Their understanding of economic analysis and its relationship to operational activities allows them to make sound decisions. Communication skills are also necessary for communicating with front-line employees and senior management.?
It can be difficult to be noticed in large organizations. Fortunately, for many of them, their skill set was adjustable, made possible by the varied scope of their role, which allowed them to gain exposure throughout the organization.
Besides their educational backgrounds, there are many other factors will shape a gorgeous future, The following are several key success factors for ensuring the effectiveness of the industrial engineer’s role:
1.Be Flexible, but Focused—Today’s industrial engineer should be open to new assignments and look for opportunities to contribute in new ways.?
2.Apply IE Concepts to Real-World Problems—To understand a theory is only part of the challenge; understanding how to use it in a real-life problem is the true chal- lenge.?
3.Understand How Change Impact the Organization—System thinking is a skill that every industrial engineer should possess.?
4.Understand the Current Processes Accurately—To understand current proc- esses an industrial engineer must live the day-to-day reality of the shop floor.
5.Manage Change— People manage all processes. If the people affected by the changes are not convinced of the solution, there are many ways in which they can contribute to its failure.
6.Follow Through on Implementation—Too often the mistake is made of assuming that if a project is implemented successfully, the benefits will be recovered.?
7.Be Creative—The ability to see current reality and generate new ideas is what brings the most value to any changing organization.?
8.Communicate Clearly—To put ideas into practice, an industrial engineer must also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.?
9.Collect experiences—be willing to take on challenging new work and be open to new assignments.
10.Continue your education—learning should be a lifetime commitment.
11.Maintain a positive attitude—everyone wants these types of people on their team.

12.Fill a gap—don’t limit your thinking and contribution to your job description or to roles that exist on an organizational chart (stay abreast of key challenges facing your company or organization, recognize an opportunity, and create your own role by filling unmet critical needs).
13.Learn to be a generalist and think strategically—use the experiences you collect to “round” yourself out and fill in the big picture.
14.Develop and maintain a reputation for getting things done—become known for driving projects to completion and for a strong list of accomplishments.
15.Communicate effectively—be effective at communicating with all types of people and per- sonalities from frontline employees to senior management.
16.Learn to negotiate—few things in life are accomplished without some give and take.
17.Network well and often—key clients today can become mentors tomorrow; key contacts today can become links to opening new career doors tomorrow.
Industrial engineers should understand that career development is primarily the responsibility of the individual while starting their professions. Industrial engineers should concentrate on doing a great job in their current position because opportunities will probably exist in the future. Some engineers work less than their best because they spend too much time worrying about their next projects, tasks, or positions. Career advancement follows this path infrequently.
I hope you find what matters you in industrial engineering career path, and may i present for you a valuable information about IE, I want you know that I investigate a real info from my deepest research, i don’t recommend and present information without any added value for me or for you, so keep your reading my articles and have a nice time

1 年Important: Point 4. Understand the Current Processes Accurately—To understand current processes an industrial engineer must live the day-to-day reality of the shop floor. Production processes have product to be made, materials, machines, men, method as basic elements. We can say all resources used are elements only. Industrial engineers have to know engineering underlying each element and the human work involved in the process. Then only they can suggest various engineering changes that will increase productivity. This process can be done at design stage also. In design stage, the IE has to understand the design in detail. The next step is to change operator motions and human-machine interfaces to increase productivity, comfort, safety and health.
