Thought of the newsletter: As you look back over your life I would guess the things you are most proud of and the things you appreciate the most are the ones you had to struggle and work hard for, not the things that came easily or without effort. Remember that principle the next time you are in the midst of a valley or a challenge: one day when you are looking back this will be one of those times that is most valuable to you because you overcame.

Building Your Routine — THIS WONDROUS LIFE

It’s good to have some sense of routine and structure in your day-to-day life to help ensure that you have consistent habits that are moving you toward your goals. Without any routine we can sort of float from urgent priority to urgent priority based on what pops up that day, and we may lose what is important by only doing what’s urgent. Routines help us to be intentional about the things that matter to us. This article has a good perspective on routines and good advice on how to build one while also realizing that your routine will change over time. Changes in your career, your family, or your location will all demand different priorities so we have to be flexible with our routines when it’s necessary.?

It’s great to have dreams and goals that you’re passionate about and that motivate you into action. But we also need to make sure we don’t get too attached to the outcome we seek because that could mean our sense of self is dependent on achieving that outcome or else we get down on ourselves. We also need to stay open and flexible to changing our dreams and not getting tunnel vision if better opportunities come up.?

In this modern hyper connected world your mentors do not have to be people that you actually know and interact with. I would consider a lot of the influencers and content creators that I follow as mentors even though we have not met. We have access to so much content from the most successful people in the world. As we study these people we can even hypothetically imagine what advice they would give to us about our current problems. It is still hypothetical, but I think it can help us when we are stuck and need guidance.?

8 Lessons to Remember When Traveling – more of what matters

Vacations and trips can be some of our fondest memories, so how do we make sure that we maximize the experience both in the moment and when we look back on it? This article has some great tips including being open to spontaneity, being intentional about how you want the trip to go, and letting go of the many things you cannot control like the weather for example. The spontaneity tip really hits home for me because I am a huge planner and sometimes?struggle to adapt when things deviate from that plan. But I bet we all can think of times where and unexpected change leads to one of our favorite memories, and it would be a shame to miss out on those because we weren’t being flexible enough.?
