16:9, 2.35:1 or ?
Whether you prefer using a panel TV or a two-piece projection system to watch your favourite programs or movies there are a few common denominators that they both share...such as the aspect ratio.
The aspect ratio of a video is defined as the ratio between the height and width of the image.
Over the years we have experienced a variety of aspect ratios with the dominant ones being 16:9 and, growing in popularity, 2.35:1.
However, there is an aspect ratio that you may or may not be aware of...2:1.
I have to admit that I was not aware of this aspect ratio until one of my custom integration clients called me about one week ago asking if Screen Innovations (SI) could build a screen using this aspect ratio.
This dealer uses a 2:1 aspect ratio screen in his demo room and promotes this solution to his clientele.
Although the 2:1 aspect ratio is not currently offered on the SI website I reached out to my contacts in Austin, Texas and they were able to assist the dealer and build the screen using the Slate AT (ALR combined with acoustically transparent) material.
I was intrigued about this aspect ratio so I did some research on YouTube and found a terrific video which is provided below.
Thank you for allowing me into your world and for sharing my thoughts.
If I can ever be of assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.
