In January 2021, the SWMRT members met with the Hoskote city municipal and Volvo CSR teams to kickstart a new long-term project that stemmed out of a 10-hour immersive eco literacy programme conducted for the latter's CSR environment team in August 2020.
IN THE SPOTLIGHT
In October, Forbes India recognised Vani Murthy's dedicated efforts in building a 'sustainable living, low-waste army' by ranking her 98th among India's Top 100 Digital Stars.
On October 12, The Economist extended an invitation to #BreakFreeFromPlastic changemakers, uniting them at the Global Plastic Summit in Bangkok. From SWMRT, Pinky Chandran actively participated in the 'Circular Economy for Plastics' and 'The Extended Producer Responsibility at the Heart of Waste Collection and Recycling' working groups.
A TRIUMPH OF CITIZEN ACTION
On October 19, the Citizen Welfare Association of Richmond and Langford town inaugurated a leaf composter in a neighbourhood park. These tank composters, funded by the association, were designed to facilitate the composting of garden waste within the community. SWMRT actively participated as a stakeholder in this initiative by extending operational support, skilling for composting and setup guidance to contribute to the project's success.
