?? 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence: Women’s Economic Empowerment??
As part of our commitment to #16DaysOfActivism against gender-based violence, we’re thrilled to announce the launch of the second phase of our collaboration with Health Poverty Action in Rwanda’s Western Province. Building on the success of the initial phase, we strengthen our focus on women’s economic empowerment within the tea sector, aligning with our overarching GIZ Women’s Economic Empowerment project, which started in January 2024.
In partnership with five tea estates, this phase aims to empower GBV-affected women with safe, stable jobs and improve working conditions for employees, with a special focus on women. Through inclusive and gender-sensitive practices, we work to prevent re-victimization, as we know women who experience violence once are at higher risk of facing it again.
Through gender equality initiatives, we’re improving the quality of life for survivors and their families. Our efforts include:
? Supporting women’s economic independence
? Establishing gender-sensitive practices and gender equality committees
? Promoting inclusivity, fair wages and workplace safety
? Enabling access to savings and loans for income generation
