15th work anniversary at Dell Tech

I recently came across a study that suggested that an average person spends approximately 90,000 hours at work over a lifetime. As someone who celebrates a career milestone at #DellTechnologies this week, the impact of my profession on 1/3rd of my life and how it has shaped and influenced not just mine but that of my colleagues, customers and partners got me thinking.

I joined Dell Technologies 15 years ago as a Partner Manager. And my journey from then, an eager and enthusiastic young graduate to now, still keen, passionate, and young(ish) regional lead, has been filled with rich experiences – some of which were difficult, some serendipitous, many humbling yet uplifting.

Today, as I reflect on these learnings, I see four significant lessons that have helped me overcome challenges, cherish my successes, and most importantly, never lose sight of my purpose and core values. I've come to call these lessons my fundamental truths, the non-negotiables that have stood the test of time and allowed me to bring my best at the workplace.

An Organization Is Only As Good As Its Leader: I've been fortunate to work with some of the best leaders in the regional tech sector. Over the years, they've challenged, encouraged, and supported me to get and do better. They are not just role models but mentors and, above all, friends who are invested in my growth and success. From managing region-wide change, teams and culture during the historic merger to growing the company ten folds and maintaining its #1 market position, I feel fortunate to have worked with foresighted and empathetic leaders at Dell.

You Are Only As Good As Your Team: This nuanced understanding of people and the market pulse has also meant that Dell Technologies attracts a very high caliber of talent from across all corners of the world. From our admin to marketing to sales, I'm proud to work with some of the brightest and best minds in the industry. Reflecting on the past 15 years, I'm filled with pride and gratitude for all we've accomplished together. Today, with my uber-cool team, we continue to serve our customers, perform better and make an impact where it counts.

But Talent Alone Won’t Cut It, If Opportunities Don’t Exist: It is at Dell, that I truly understood the importance of being at the right place at the right time. The opportunities to thrive and influence change are immense. Employees are encouraged to take risks, lead and drive growth. For me, starting our in channel sales to working on high-profile customer transformation projects across the Gulf markets, each opportunity has been unique and rewarding.

Ethics Lie At The Heart Of Our Business: At Dell Technologies, we believe that how we win is just as important as winning itself. Ethics is embedded in our culture. We demand it from ourselves across everything we do. It therefore comes as no surprise that Dell Technologies was recognized as one of the 'World's Most Ethical Companies' for the 11th Year in a row. This belief has been a guiding force through the years and has been instrumental in helping me build strong and long-lasting partnerships based on trust and integrity.

Today marks the completion of 15 years of my journey with this fantastic organization! I am extremely grateful to the leadership team for the opportunities, mentorship, and growth I have experienced here. It has been an incredible ride so far, and I can't wait to see what lies ahead. ?

A big thanks goes to my loving and beautiful family; whom without their unconditional support, patience, love and belief in me, I wouldn’t have been able to progress in my career. I am so lucky to have them in my life and will forever owe my achievements to them.

I'm proud to be a part of an organization that's dedicated to making a difference in people's lives, and I'm excited to see what the rest of the 90,000 hours shape up to be.
