150 EVICTIONS- MILLIE ROSE CELEBRATES 1ST QUARTER ACHIEVEMENT!
Millie Rose Evictions (c) 2024 W. D. Lewis
Conference Room of Millie Rose Realty and Associates
Sarah
“Okay everyone, take your seats!” Sarah tapped her pen on the desk while pushing her glasses up to her eyes. “Miss Millie will be in here in a few minutes. Let’s get the small stuff out of the way, quickly!”
Lenny
Lenny was the first to raise his hand.
“Yes, Lenny?”
“Miss Millie specifically told me, to remind you, to remind her that she has not heard anything about the Ride Along,” Lenny said in one breath. “She says she doesn’t want to be surprised on the day of.”
“Thank you, Lenny,” Sarah looked around the room to see if anyone else had any questions or comments. “Yes, Cole?”
Cole
“I put in for my time off in May,” Cole reminded Sarah. “I haven’t heard back. I’ve made flight reservations, and I can’t reschedule. It’s for my sister’s wedding in Honolulu.”
“I have it on my list, Cole,” Sarah assured him. “Anyone else?”
Millie
“I have something to say!” Millie said as she rolled into the conference room. “I’ll take it from here, Sarah!”
Sarah stepped quickly to a corner at the front of the room, giving Millie her space to maneuver her wheelchair. “Good morning, Miss Millie!”
“Whose sister is getting married?” Millie picked up on the latter portion of the conversation.
“Mine, Miss Millie,” Cole answered quickly. “In May! In Honolulu!”
“That’s great! Congratulations!” Millie said with a dry expression on her face. She stared at Cole for a few more seconds. “Why is she getting married in May? Most people get married in June.”
“I don’t know, Miss Millie,” Cole replied, embarrassed by the question. He began to feel uncomfortable at Miss Millie’s prolonged stare. “That’s what they agreed to.”
“You know May is my peak period for our business, don’t you, Mr. Cole?”
“Yes mam,” Cole answered slowly, fearing the denial coming for his requested time off. “It will just be for the weekend. I’ll be glad to make up for the time, Miss Millie. She is my only sister, and we are really, really close.”
Millie looked around the room at some guests who looked back and forth between the employer and the employee. “You are approved! Let us know where it is, we’ll send you a nice big present for your sister and her new husband!”
“Thank you, Miss Millie!” Cole let out a big sigh of relief.
“Cole!” Millie called to him as he was wiping sweat from his forehead. She turned her wheelchair to face him head-on, even from across the room. “Don’t let no one else get married during my peak periods, you hear me?”
“Yes mam,” Cole cracked a crooked smile, but he knew Miss Millie was not kidding.
“What else do we have on the agenda, Sarah?”
“We have a few guests, Miss Millie!”
“Who are they?” Millie asked abruptly. “Have them stand up or show themselves!”
“They are recruits!” Sarah proclaimed with a big smile. “They are looking to join Millie Rose Realty and Associates. ?Would you like them to introduce themselves?”
“Of course, by all means!” Millie clapped as she heard each one give their names and why they wanted to join her agency.
“Have each of you taken your real estate exams, yet? Or are you here for my free breakfast?” There was laughter in the room.
“They are all preparing to take their tests next month, Miss Millie!” Sarah informed her.
“Well, if any of you need test preparation get with Sarah or Lenny,” Millie offered the recruits. “They’ll set you up for a free test preparation. Just remember, it’s free if you pass. I don’t want my name associated with losers who can’t pass a simple Louisiana Real Estate exam!” There was more laughter, but Millie held a straight face.
“What’s next Sarah?” Millie asked.

“ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY EVICTIONS!” Sarah led the room in applause and cheer. “CONGRATULATIONS, MISS MILLIE!”
“No, ‘Thank you!’” Miss Millie responded to Sarah. “Without each of you giving of your extra time and working with the contractors that we have, this would not have been possible.”
She maneuvered her wheelchair from one side of the room to the other as though she was pacing. “Without the crews who report early in the mornings, or late nights, weekends, and maybe one or two holidays, my apologies, you guys have done a phenomenal job! Thank you all so much and give yourselves a big hand and a standing ovation!!!!”
Sarah again led the applause cheers.
?“You all know that this is a big deal not because we put people out on the street,” Millie continued. “But we get landlords and property owners their homes back. We make it possible so that investors who put properties into commerce can get a regular return on their investments, and hopefully, put more properties on the market.”
A small applause from the gallery.
“Going forward,” Millie continued. “We know that we still have a lot to do. We are dealing with squatters at an increased level. They are a different breed of tenant, even if they don’t have a lease. There are still laws on the books that we need to be aware of so that we don’t violate any of the squatter's rights. That’s right, squatters have rights, too. If you don’t believe me, look it up!”
Millie stopped her wheelchair in the middle of the stage. “Change that! Don’t look it up, take my word for it! Because if you look up the wrong thing and make the wrong move, I’m getting sued, and you’re getting fired! Capiche?”
No one answered.
“DO YOU PEOPLE UNDERSTAND THE WORDS THAT ARE COMING FROM MY MOUTH?” Millie mocked comedian, Chris Tucker's quote from the movie Rush Hour.
“YES, MAM!” A chorus of those in attendance responded.
“Thank you!” Millie appeared disappointed that no one caught her attempt at humor, even though she was very serious about getting sued and, firing somebody. “ What’s next, Sarah?”
“You, Miss Millie!” Sarah said with excitement. “You are running for City Council, District 11A, here on the Westbank of New Orleans Parish,” Sarah reported this news with fondness while leading applause in the room.
Millie waved off the applause. “Thank you, but I don’t have everything in place yet to run my campaign.”
“We learned of it on social media, but you decided to tell us today,” Sarah reminded her employer. “ What are your plans to run for City Council? Will you be needing us to help you?”
"Thank you for offering Sarah,” Millie answered. “All I need for you and the rest of the staff and agents to do is to keep things going as I have trained you. Once I win this election, I will need you guys to keep things moving forward because it may be a conflict of interest for me to run this company and to represent the Westbank at the same time.”
“We can do that, Miss Millie!” Lenny answered from the back of the room. “We got you!”
“Thanks, Lenny!” Millie quickly changed gears. “I believe that we have two more things on the agenda, Sarah.”
“Yes mam,” Sarah took a few seconds to check off her list. “The Ride Along, and what’s on May’s agenda, if it is not too soon to start preparing.”
“No, it is not, Sarah,” Millie replied. “The Ride Along! That’s your baby, isn’t it?”
“Yes mam,” Sarah answered. “But it looks like it will be delayed, based on what you shared with me confidentially.”
Millie looked at Sarah. “Yes, that may require a slight delay. I will need to get you some help if that matter comes to fruition.”
The room’s energy seemed to have shifted as everyone looked at the two-stage hosts to see if they could determine what the big secret was.
“Well, put that on May’s agenda,” Millie directed. “Anything else before we call it for the morning? Wait, before you answer that. Where is Sterling? Did he call you?"
"No mam, Miss Millie," Sarah answered. "Do you want me to text Mr. Diamond to call you?"
"Yes, please," Millie replied. "He needs to be in these meetings now more than ever! I am looking to him to run this office when I get on the City Council and you helping him, Sarah."
“Y-Y-Yes, Miss Millie," Sarah answered as she appeared surprised by this recent revelation that Sterling Diamond would be running the office while Miss Millie was on the City Council.
"Any questions, anyone?” Sarah asked the group. “Thank you, all! Good luck to our recruits! If no questions, this meeting is adjourned!”
