The Salem Kroc Center in Salem, Oregon recently celebrated its 15th anniversary on February 21, 2025, marking a significant milestone in its mission to empower individuals and strengthen the community. Over the years, the center has become a vital resource for Salem residents, offering programs that support education, personal development, and lifelong success.
?? Camps That Inspire Joy and Connection
The Kroc Center’s One-Day-Fun-Day camps continue to be a favorite among local families. At a recent camp, 9 children were registered, but an additional 9 joined on the day of the event. Thanks to the flexibility and dedication of the staff, every child was welcomed, and the day’s activities were adjusted to ensure an engaging and memorable experience. The energy on camp days brings a noticeable vibrancy to the entire facility.
?? GED Program Sets New Goals for Success
With 11 graduates already this year, the Kroc Center’s GED program is on track to surpass last year’s total of 15 graduates. There are plans to expand the program by adding a second part-time instructor and aide, which would increase the capacity from 18 to 36 students. This expansion would offer more individuals the opportunity to gain essential educational qualifications and unlock new pathways for personal and professional growth.
?? I-Build: Constructing Brighter Futures
The I-Build program continues to grow, building strong partnerships with Salem-Keizer Public Schools (SKPS), the Willamette Education Service District (WESD), and Chemeketa Community College (CCC). These collaborations aim to provide high school credit through the program’s qualified staff, helping students who have fallen behind catch up and stay on the path to graduation.
A recent counselor appreciation event, hosted at the I-Build construction site, welcomed 15 school counselors who had the opportunity to see the program in action. Referrals from counselors are now bringing in students who have dropped out or are at risk of doing so, highlighting the program’s growing impact.
Currently, the program hosts:
A Wednesday cohort of 16 students (ages 15–18)
A Friday cohort of 8 students (ages 19–24)
The program’s goal is to expand its reach, creating stronger referral networks and reaching the point where community demand sustains its growth.
?? Upcoming Event: Contractors Exchange “Meet the Prime”
On February 28, 2025, the Kroc Center will host the Contractors Exchange “Meet the Prime” event at the I-Build site. This gathering will bring together some of Oregon’s largest contractors and offer subcontractors the opportunity to learn about current and upcoming projects. The event is expected to attract significant attention, including coverage from Fox 12 News.
?? A Celebration of 15 Years of Service
The 15th-anniversary celebration on February 21, 2025, was a testament to the impact the Kroc Center has had on the Salem community. The event honored the dedication of the staff, volunteers, and community partners who have contributed to its success.
