15 Years of fun!

Friday evening will see the Optionis team celebrate Parasol's 15th Birthday. It's fair to say that the last 15 years have been very interesting and I wanted to pay tribute to ALL the people that have helped us and worked with and through us over the years.

It all started with a simple principle to make Contractors lives easier and simpler and that remains the focus today. How we do that and the rules that govern that environment have become a lot more complex, but the initial values and principles are still the foundations. 

With a bunch of new rules just around the corner it's timely to reflect on some of those values that have been the cornerstone of our growth.

  1. We have never had to re-engineer the business model as a result of tax law changes. The business was always about doing what was right not what was the most lucrative or easy. I believe in the long term and being able to sleep at night.
  2. We have services for every form of temporary worker, contractor, freelancer or interim. We provide these services on the basis of protecting the individual, the agency and the hirer. We do this really properly and safeguard reputations and manage risks. This works really well if the supply chain places compliance and protection ahead of short term financial gain.
  3. Keep it simple. I was a contractor and found the paperwork to be a ball ache at best. We pioneered online portals and integration and we continue to make improvements and try to make things easy for everyone.
  4. It matters. This isn't payroll, this is peoples livelihoods and we know how important that is. Our Head Office teams care about helping people and we are transparent about how well we are doing (or not) when it comes to dealing with issues.
  5. We are not perfect! Having looked after approaching 100,000 contractors in Parasol, there are bound to be scenarios that can be very challenging. We aim to take responsibility and solve issues but if we get things wrong we own up to it.

I could go on but I am sure you get the gist by now that I am proud of what we stand for and make no apologies for reminding everyone that we do a great job. We are very confident about the future because we place service and safety before short term gain.

So thanks again to all the staff, contractors and recruitment businesses that we have worked with. You're all amazing.
