15 years of the Freedom Project

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the Dogs Trust Freedom Project, our pet-fostering scheme for people fleeing domestic abuse. Unfortunately many refuges can’t accept pets. Without the help of the Freedom Project, many people would be forced to remain in an abusive relationship simply out of fear of what might happen to their pets if they flee without them. Since the service launched, we have helped over 1,000 dogs and the team continue to work tirelessly to make sure these vulnerable people have somewhere to turn to for their beloved animals.

Much has happened over the past 15 years, but what remains the same is the great passion for the service we offer. We have recently expanded into four additional areas and desperately needs foster carers to support this vital service.
