The 15 Drivers of Burnout

The 15 Drivers of Burnout

I'm going to write about these one by one over the coming weeks but I'm not in the game of making people wait forever for the 'keys to better'!

So, here's the full list for those that want to self-support. It's pretty obvious what one can do with each to alleviate pressure, stress or do better. But I will cover in detail over time.

Just note that each one is a driver of burnout and carries a score of one. The ideal, but realistically impossible, situation is to score Zero! The worst is naturally 15. Everyone is different and some can tolerate more than others, see previous articles, so initially aim to impact on those you can, and remember, it's a compound impact so don't worry if you make a change and the impact isn't instant. The impact will come if you keep at it, and it will be a very welcome relief.

  1. You don't have enough time to do everything demanded of you
  2. You don't have enough control over the things you need to do
  3. You don't have enough support from others to achieve things
  4. You don't know what your role and purpose is
  5. You are treated poorly by others
  6. You don't have enough information about the things changing in your life
  7. You are concerned about your health, or the health of others
  8. You are experiencing financial difficulties, or expect to
  9. You are having relationship difficulties with loved ones or friends
  10. You are not relaxing, resting or sleeping enough
  11. You don't have a good diet or nutrition regime
  12. You are over indulging in alcohol and stimulants
  13. You are not exercising enough
  14. You are not filling your life with enjoyable activities
  15. You are not being compassionate enough to yourself and others

So pens and paper out, or a new spreadsheet, and work out your score! Share below if you wish!

Are you happy with it? If so are you certain the compound impact of continuing on your current path isn't going to lead to burnout or triggering your mental health condition?

Are you unhappy about it? If so, do something about some, or all, of them and see what affect it has over time.

Don't wait for me to serialise these, although I will :-), get stuck in and start feeling better and averting burnout, or a mental health condition, now!
