15 cool robots you missed at Hannover Messe

Hannover Messe is always a great opportunity to see the newest, most exciting technology from the world of engineering. In recent years, robots have really taken over some areas of the show, and the 2017 event was no exception.

But why should robots be limited to boring industrial tasks at the show? We found plenty of them having fun—dueling with lightsabers, serving beer, pretending they were synchronized swimmers, playing with bottle caps, trying to steal Audis, and more! Check out 15 of the most interesting robotic displays at the show.

1. Use the (robot) Force!

Kids love Star Wars, adults love Star Wars … so who’s to say that robots don’t love Star Wars, too? These robots at the Hiwin booth showed their mad lightsaber skills (including a double-bladed model, yowza!), and we weren’t about to get any closer to the action than this, less we lose a hand or something …


2. This robot sucks, but that’s a good thing

Robots have to do SOME work, you know, and this particular one was using some vacuum grippers from Schmalz to pick up multiple cans of fresh fruit (why they were emblazoned with YES! in German is mystery we won’t go into here) and transport them around ...
