15 ATTRIBUTES TO DEVELOP IN ORDER TO BECOME A HIGH PERFORMER

High performers have continued to be key in improving organization’s performance. These individuals are undoubtedly important personnel because of the value they bring to the organization such as the following:

  1. ?They bring motivation to other employees
  2. They accelerate the process of achieving organization’s objectives
  3. ?Financial growth etc.

High performers always accomplish every undertaking tremendously. It is for this reason that organizations have a firm grip on them, and most of the individuals admire them.

Has it ever crossed your mind, how these individuals achieve this?

Well, this is only made possible because of their attributes. High performers have similar attributes that drive and make them great at whatever they do. These attributes can be learnt and developed by any typical individual.

Therefore, in this article I will highlight 15 attributes you need to develop in order to become a high performer.

How I wish I could tell you that it would be an easy task. However, I Can assure you that I will be a jolly ride experience, that requires patience and practice.

The following are my suggested list of attributes you need to develop in order to become a high performer:

1.??????Discipline

The strict training, or the enforcement of values, intended to produce ordered or controlled behaviour in oneself or others. Discipline is a non-negotiable requirement in any realm, you will need to be self-disciplined in order to achieve goals.

2.??????Passion

Passion is always at the core of every high performer; they know that having that burning desire to pursue goals is a prerequisite if you wish to accomplish them. Passion will carry you all the way in times of setbacks, challenges.

3.??????Commitment

The act of been devoted to something. High performers have a strong conviction to stick to their goals.


4.??????Adaptability

High performers understand perfectly well, that we live in an environment where things are constantly changing. Therefore, in order for one to remain relevant, there is need to adapt to every change. High performers always welcome change. They are always ready to learn new things and prepare for every task that comes with change.

5.??????Optimism

A tendency to take bright, hopeful view of things and expect the best possible outcome. High performers are optimistic, they are fully aware that with optimism you will always triumph over any challenges, Optimism will grant you the opportunity to employ the most efficient methods of executing tasks and maintaining that positive outlook.

6.??????Innovative

High performers are innovative, they always strive to discover new ways of solving problems in a most efficient manner. Their creativity is amazing.

7.??????Planning skills

A plan can be defined as a thought-out activity of doing things. High performers have excellent planning skills, they use a plan as their blueprint for every activity that needs to be done. A plan will be a road map of how every activity will be conducted. Planning allows you to allocate the required resources to successfully execute any task.

8.??????Attention to detail

High performers are always attentive to details of every activity. They have keen eyes and interest in every activity and capabilities of spotting out any anomalies. They know exactly where to look and what to look for. This attribute allows them to produce results that are mostly error free.

9.??????Open minded

High performers are open minded individuals, they are very observant and active in listening. They pay very close attention to situations, suggestions and contributions are well taken note of. They understand that growth, is as a result of continuous learning.

10.??Accountability

High performers are accountable for every task and action taken. Accountability allows you to keep track of the results of any course of action.


11.??Excellent communication skills

Communication is everyday activity of every human being. However, not everyone is able to communicate effectively due to barriers of communication.?High performers are excellent communicators, they know exactly who their audience are, what form of communication method to use etc.

12.??Fearless heart

Fear is one of the major reasons why people don’t do things. A lot of people are gripped with fear of the unknown, they are afraid to carry out certain tasks because of various reasons including failure. High performers are brave individuals, who are always ready to pursue goals without fear. They are ever ready to face any challenges and make mistakes whilst they conquer their goals.

13.??Self-motivation

High performers are self-motivated individuals, they find their own way of doing things without looking for motivation around them. They have self-belief to conquer goals with faith and hope that dwells within them.

14.??Resilient

This is the ability to quickly recover or bounce back from adverse situations. High performers are resilient, they don’t focus and waste their energy or time on adverse happenings, instead they accept situations and move forward.

15.??Critical thinking

The ability to analyse, synthesize and evaluate the information obtained after conducting an activity. High performers are critical thinkers, they reason at the highest level. This allows them to make well informed decisions of every task.

If you were to ask high performers like JR RIDINGER, DAVID MELTZER, MICHELLE BEYO they will be able to mention some of the attributes I have highlighted in this article and will assure you that it is possible to be developed by anyone.

Therefore, it will be upon oneself to choose among the listed attributes which ones will be beneficial, because every individual is unique in their own way. For this reason, no one knows you better than yourself, you understand which attributes would best suit your situation.
