14 member tech team with 0 women? This is a problem. Let's fix it.
This is a problem. There are not enough women in tech. Especially in mid, senior and leadership roles. If companies are building products for the entire human race, how can we do it without women participating in the building process?
It will take 132 years to close the global gender gap!
There are less than 1% women in the C-suite. Large tech companies have less than 25% women in their teams. And even lesser in senior positions.
We need to do something about it. What? And how?
At Geektrust we have a woman co-founder, we have 50% women in our leadership team, 34% women in our tech team, and overall 60% women in the organization.
We walk the talk. Now we would like to help other companies walk the talk too.
Code is a great leveller
A 6 year career break. Not sure where to apply for her next job. Return to work programs and hard to get into. Some of them only offer internships. Confidence low. Sounds familiar?
Enter Geektrust. Enter the power of code.
A user with the career break mentioned above registered with us. She wrote code on Geektrust, got (automated) feedback on her code, read up content on how to improve her skills, and finally got a great score in our evaluation.
When we shared her profile with companies, they were more interested in her code than her break. Her code was that of a senior developer! She didn't need to go through an internship. She was interviewed and later joined a leading fintech startup as a senior developer.

We see code as a great way to showcase skills and cut through biases. We see coding challenges as an enabler for action and not just as a test to clear. We look for ability to write good code, like in the real world, as opposed to data structure or algorthmic tests.
At Geektrust, developers can be at the comfort of their homes, not stress about "passing" coding tests in a time bound assessment, upskill at their convenience reading blogs and seeing videos, and get instant feedback on how good their code is (as opposed to just feedback on the output).
We've done this for years, and we now have a product that helps women developers cut through biases and get hired for opportunities that suit their career aspirations.
Business for good
Last year we, along with our clients, helped 65 women developers get upskilled as part of a sponsorship program.
We worked with Intuit and Target to run successful women hiring programs. We ran a women hiring event for multiple startups to hire women devs.
We believe the Geektrust way of spotting good developers using code, is the way to help more women devs find great opportunities. This year our goal is help 1000 women developers find their next big opportunity. You can contribute in different ways:
Making money is important, having a reasonable valuation is important, growing is important, but it's also important to do good. We are strong believers in doing business for good. Being a successful company and being a good-at-heart company is possible. Our women hiring initiative is another step in this direction. Do share and help us spread the word.
all the best the Geektrust team
