We start this edition with a Temperature Check from last week's Friday Poll. Ripple claimed a significant victory in its token, XRP, being seen as software and not as a security… But what is the community's view on this mean for Web3, Blockchain and Crypto?…

?? Clearly many of you are not counting your chickens just yet...

Last week's announcement was mixed in terms of outcomes for Crypto. There will be continued legal challenge, and Ripple may yet take some ‘L’s along the way. However, the ruling in the US will forever be a reference for a case of ‘Crypto vs. Regulators’ and if XRP can be seen as software, so could many others…

OK, Crypto doesn't have a Call Centre. This is part of the opportunity and challenge with Blockchains and self-custodial solutions. But that didn't stop me and some frens creating our 'Top 10' fictitious customer complaints that the operators would likely be cursing about on a regular basis...

?? Trading Crypto and NFTs Feels Like...

Another funny for you guys this week as we ask you to think back to the first time you experienced the use of Blockchain, tried using a bridge, or for the brave: trading digital assets!

Watch on as the intrepid adventurer tries time after time to achieve greatness, only to be rugged (read: electrocuted, shocked, bumped about) by his experiments. Definitely a 'sound on' video this one.

?? Myth Busting with Chainalysis

The good folks at Chainalysis came out with a wonderful report this week, focused on helping to dispel some of the common misconceptions (or flat-out lies) about Blockchain and Web3.

Sadly, Web3 has had struggles with terminology, lack of objective information, misconceptions and in some cases straight lies being put out for the general public to consume for way too long...

?? 'Blockchain is Bitcoin'

?? 'Blockchains can't be hacked'

?? 'Exchanges are decentralised'

?? 'All Blockchains facilitate money laundering'

?? 'Don't validate, trust me bro'...

etc.

????♂? Blockchain Gandalf Pens a Classic...

Shout to Keir Finlow-Bates for contributing an incredible simple, yet incredibly important guide to what we really mean by 'Web3'.

There have been some pretty hefty reports on Web3, The Metaverse, Crypto, Decentralised Identity, Central Bank Digital Currencies, Zero-Knowledge Proofs, etc. in recent weeks, so I thought I’d give you guys a break and share something simple. That’s not to say that simple means EASY. In fact it’s often harder to explain something concisely than it is to do so in 100 pages.

Keir has a brilliant technical mind, but also a unique ability to explain complicated things in a relatable (often humorous) way.

?? Calling All Cryptographers!

The Midnight team at Input Output (IOHK) is looking for talented cryptographers to help with a very special mission...

We’re looking for researchers to help analyse and evaluate potential elliptic curve solutions for Midnight: the first Cardano sidechain, a data-protection chain to support regulatory compliance, and a critical enabler for getting the next billion users and enterprises using DApps and the decentralised internet.

We are building a zero-knowledge proof system supporting recursion (aka proofs of proofs) and to do so, we want to explore options to have a hybrid cycle of curves that unlocks efficient (succinctly verifiable) polynomial commitment schemes (if you know, you know…)

If this sounds like your type of research project, here’s what you need to do:

- Submit your proposal for research by the end of July (I know it says 7th July in the document, but we're extending the deadline)
