Who is Elena Burkhart?

Elena Novosad-Burkhart is a leading expert in weight loss, longevity, and wellness at SlimGenetix. She passionately advocates for preventive medicine, emphasizing a healthy lifestyle, nutrition, and weight maintenance. Elena holds a master’s degree as a Physician Assistant from UTMB in Galveston. She has extensive experience as a first surgical assistant in the cardiothoracic surgery department at UTMB and later at KPS Cardiovascular Surgical Group in The Woodlands. She participated in numerous heart and lung surgeries, including heart transplantation, coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), and other complex procedures. Her work in the operating room and later in cardiology practice made her acutely aware of the significant impact of unhealthy diets and weight gain on health. Motivated by this awareness, Elena began incorporating nutritional education, weight loss strategies, and behavioral therapy into cardiology and primary care practices. She developed a keen interest in weight management, particularly the role of genetics in weight gain and the benefits of ancestral diets. In addition to her clinical experience, Elena is a certified nutritional genomics specialist, corporate wellness specialist, and certified health coach. She is dedicated to guiding and supporting individuals through lifestyle transformations and weight loss journeys. As a member of The Obesity Society, she frequently participates in local and international obesity-related conferences. Elena is currently pursuing her Doctor of Medical Science (DMS-C) at the University of Lynchburg and is writing a book titled "Stone Age Genetics in the Modern World."
