123-321 prioritisation method to overcome overwhelm from BUSYness

123-321 prioritisation method to overcome overwhelm from BUSYness

A lot of business owners I speak to talk about being?too busy, not having enough time, being in?OVERWHELM.

I’d recommend trying this simple prioritisation exercise?to use LOGIC to overcome the disempowering EMOTION of overwhelm. It always works!

Step 1

Get everything out of your head and onto paper – all the things you feel you need to do.

Step 2

Apply the?4 D’s?to this list:

-?Delete?the ‘noise’ – the not important, nor urgent items that won’t matter if you don’t get round to them.

-?Delegate?anything you can to a team member or an external resource who can deliver at a lower ‘cost per hour’ than you.

-?Defer?the items that are not important or urgent for a later date.

- What's left is your?Do?list.

Be ruthless!

Step 3

Look at the?Do’s?and apply the?123-321?technique to prioritise these.

First, prioritise the 3 most critical things to focus on in order of importance 1-2-3

Identify 3 key actions to take to progress the #1 priority

Identify 2 key actions to take to progress the #2 priority

Identify 1 key action to progress the #3 priority

Don’t look at anything else on your list until these actions are done. Then repeat taking the next 1-2-3 most significant items on your ‘Do’ list.

3 books you can read if you want to learn more about prioritising, structuring and mastering your leverage of your most precious resource – Time:

Eat that Frog – Brian Tracy

Love this Sanjiv!

I think this is very sage advice, often forgotten, good to reset every so often to clear the decks and focus on the things that count.
