120 years of winemaking expertise

120 years of winemaking expertise

To start unravelling the history of Bodega Luigi Bosca, we need to date back to over a century ago. In Argentina, by the end of the 19th century, the vinegrowing activity began to take shape thanks to the Spanish and Italian immigrants. One of them was Leoncio Arizu, member of a family of vinegrowers in Navarra, who arrived in Argentina in 1890, and settled in Mendoza. As soon as he discovered Luján de Cuyo, he marvelled at this place which was so reminiscent to his native homeland, and began to plant European vines.

During this time, each generation left a significant legacy to the winery, but also in Argentina's winemaking history: back in 1933, Leoncio Saturnino Arizu was already advocating for a more profesional and technical vinegrowing, and as early as 1963, Alberto Arizu was pioneering the selection of genetic material and terroir analysis in Mendoza.

As you can see, since the 19th century, each generation has taken care of the domain with the same approach: harvest the past, seed the future, and challenge the present. Our efforts will transcend time and be forever present in our wines.
